Winston Churchill becomes leader of British Government
On May 10, 1940 Hitler invaded Holland,Belgium,and the Netherlands also on the same day the House of commons lost hope in Chamberlain and replaced him with Churchill as Prime Minister.On May 13,his first speech before the House of Commons, Prime Minister Churchill declared that “I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears, and sweat” and offered an outline of his bold plans for British resistance.
