The Philippines was attacked just nine hours after Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. The United States had control over the Philippines at the time, as well as a few military bases. The United states military stationed in the Philippines had joined up with the Filipinos to launch a counter attack known as the battle of Corregidor where we lost to the Japanese forces. -
Bulgaria joins the axis
When World War Two started, Bulgaria declared itself neutral. King Boris wanted to expand his borders, and at the time Germany had convinced Romania to restore what was taken from Bulgaria in World War One. Hitler brags that he already won, and King Boris not wanting to join the losing side, joins the axis. -

The Philippines Commonwealth army was created with the threat of war with Japan imminent, a new command in the far east was created known as U.S.A.F.F.E, or the United States Army Forces Far East. -
The Maltese Falcon
The Maltese Falcon is a 1941 spy film directed by John Huston in his directorial debut. Huston's screenplay was based on the novel of the same name by Dashiell Hammett. The story follows a San Francisco private detective and his dealings with three unscrupulous adventurers, all of whom are competing to obtain a jewel-encrusted falcon statuette. The reason i chose this is because The Maltese Falcon is as close to a James Bond movie as i could keep while staying in the time boundries. -
General Patton
On January, 15th 1942, General George S. Patton was given command of 1 Armored Corps. From his first days as a commander, He strongly emphasized the need for armored forces to stay in constant contact with the enemy.
One reason i picked Patton was this quote "Live for something rather than die for nothing." I believe this quote to be very inspirational. The other reason I chose him is because he was a very hardy, stubborn man who went down fighting for what he believed was right. -

John Wayne is one of the most renown actor to have ever lived. He was born as Marion Robert Morrison on May, 26th, 1907. on October, 8th 1942 He starred in the movie Flying Tigers, as well as a few other movies. I picked John Wayne as one of my topics because he was really good at playing the good guy, and the bad guy once-ish I'm surprised he wasn't already taken so i chose him to spread his legacy to the new generation. -
The First Slinky
In 1943, Richard James, a naval mechanical engineer stationed at the William Cramp and Sons shipyards in Philadelphia, was developing springs that could support and stabilize sensitive instruments aboard ships in rough seas. James accidentally knocked one of the springs from a shelf, and watched as the spring "stepped" in a series of arcs to a stack of books, to a tabletop, and to the floor, where it re-coiled itself and stood upright.
