The Germans and Russians made a pact to not attack each other and agreed that they would take Poland together and split the land. The allies had promised to protect Poland. Germany used a new tactic called 'Blitzkrieg' when they attacked Poland. Poland fell quickly. Because of their promise, the allies declare war on Germany. This is considered the start of the war. It was the first time Germany used their new tactic. -

Pearl Harbor
We knew that Japan was planning on attacking us, but we didn't know where. They then attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. They attacked us by air, bombing the base. We lost 19 ships, 150 planes, and 2400 people. We declared war on Japan the next day. The Axis declares war on us, due to the Tripartite Pact they signed earlier, then we declare war on the Axis. -
