Japanese invasion of Manchuria
In 1931, the Japanese Kwangtung Army attacked Chinese troops in Manchuria in an event commonly known as the Manchurian Incident. Essentially, this was an attempt by the Japanese Empire to gain control over the whole province, in order to eventually encompass all of East Asia. This proved to be one of the causes of WWII. -

Invasion of Poland
Germany signed a nonaggeression pact with Poland, it was ment to keep Poland from alliencing with the Soviets and French. As Germany grew to the surrounding countries and in a cirle formation attacked Warsaw; in a few weeks the Polish gave their surrender. -
Dunkirk
The German invasion of France had pushed all French and Brittish forces to Dunkirk, by the English Channel. Two French forces would keep the perimeter while thousands of troops escaped on ships to the United Kingdom over a series of about 10 days. -
Attack on Pearl Harbor
The Japanese launched a surprise air attack on the U.S. Navel Base Pearl Harbor. The bombing enraged the American people that they abandend isolationism and declared war on Japan the next day. -
Bataan Death March
Forced march of 90,000 to 100,000 American and Filipino prisoners of war captured by the Japanese in the Philippines in the early stages of World War II. Starting out from Mariveles, on the southern end of the Bataan Peninsula, on April 9, 1942, they were force-marched 55 miles to San Fernando, then taken by rail to Capas, from where they walked the final 8 miles to Camp O’Donnell. They were starved and mistreated, often kicked or beaten on their way, and many who fell were bayonetted. -

The Allied troops landed on the 50mile stertch of beach on Normandy, France. The Allied troops attcked the heavily fortified French coastline to gain a foot hold in Normandy, to defeat the Germans. -

A major surprise German offensive launched through the densely forested Ardennes mountain region on the western front. Though initially successful, the battle ended up being a decisive Allied victory, depleating an already weakend German army as both valuable reserves and equipment were lost. -

It took place in a Russian resort town in Crimea during WWII.U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin made important decisions regarding the future progress of the war and the postwar world. -
