In 1941 the Nazis began creating gas chambers at Auschwitz, one of the most well known concentration camps from the Holocaust and WWII. These chambers would fill with gas while many of their Jewish victims were inside, killing them all. -

Axis powers surrender (Japan)
Japan surrenders to their allies for a similar reason to why Germany surrenders. There were two main reasons they surrendered. For one, the soviet union had joined the war. And the second reason they surrendered was due to the threat of atomic bombs.
