    Pearl Harbor
    The pearl harbor is located near the center of the Pacific Ocean, roughly 2,000 miles from the U.S. mainland and about 4,000 miles from Japan.On December 7, 1941, There was a surprise attack by the japanese that destroy or damage nearly 20 American naval vessels, including eight battleships, and over 300 airplanes. More than 2,400 Americans died in the attack, including civilians, and another 1,000 people were wounded.

  • Capture of Rome

    Capture of Rome
    Rome was captured by the Allies on June 4, 1944. Italy had surrendered on September 3, 1943 but the Germans wanted their lands after them being declared an open city. The Allies(U.S) made their way into Rome to “free them”. After the fall of Rome they were finally able to bomb parts of eastern Germany. The fall of Rome also gave the U.S hope, “one up, two to go”.

    The Allied forces (Britain, america, Canada and France) attacked the germans in the coast of Norway in France on June 6, 1944. The big force of 15,00 soldiers the forces attacked and became victories which also became the turning point in world war 2 in Europe. D-day forced the Germans to fight a two front war just as they had in world war 1 but the germans couldn't handle it.

    Battle of Saipan
    The U.S. marines attacked the beaches of the Japanese island of Saipan in June 15 1944. They were trying to obtain an air base that the Japanese has located in that area. U.S wanted the area because from their they were able to launch their Long range B-29 bombers fires toy at japan's home islands. The U.S gained victory and raised their flag on July 9 over the island.

    December 1944-January 1945 after they recaptured France, the allied become stalled along the German border .In 1944 Germany staged a counterattack in Belgium and Luxembourg which they caused a pushed “a 30 mile bulge” into the allied lines.The allies stopped the Germans and threw them back across with heavy losses.
  • Hiroshima Bombing

    Hiroshima Bombing
    The U.S President Truman ordered the use of an atomic bomb on Japan hoping to have them immediately surrender. The bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945. This bombing instantly killed 80,000 people and wiped out almost the whole city. Even more people died after being exposed to the radiation of the bombs. Japan did not immediately surrender after this bombing, but it is thought to be the reason for their surrender in August 15, 1945 along with the Nagasaki bombing.
