Francisco Franco is named head of Spain to defeat the Rebublicans in the Spanish cival war. It would take him more than 2 years to finally win and be dictator of Spain until his death in 1975. -

Coalition formed between Germany in Italy in 1936. Joined the two facist countries togerher. -
Germany Annexes Austira
HItler marches in and talks to the chancellor of Austria and forces him to resign. The next day he brings in troops to a roaring Austrain applause and Austria is now a part of Germany. -
Hitler demands the Sudentenland form Czechoslovakia
Brithish and France Prime ministers appease HItler by giving him the Sudetenland in hopes of staying away from war. The Czec's didn't even have a say in the matter. -
Munich Conference
HIter was appeased by being given the Sudetenland at the conference. Neville Chamberlain the Britsh Prime minister wanted to avoid war. -
Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact
It was a non-aggression pact signed by Germany and Russia stating that no one will attack if they are attacked by a third party. -
Nazi Invasion of Poland
Early in the morning on September 1st Germany troops and U-boats attacked Polish air fields and towns. Hitler said it was a defensive action but France and Britain thought different and decalared war on Germany September 3rd, Starting WWII. -
Battle of Britain
France had surrendered and Britain now stood alone against the German army. The name of the Battle came after a speech that Winston Churchill delivered and said "The fight in France is over, now the battle in Britain will begin". -

This conference was developed for the "final soluton" for the Jewsish people. Several grusome plans developed but it was the idea of the concentration camps that made it out. -
Doolittle Raid
On this day 16 American B-25 bombers attacked Japan. Although this attack did very little to hurt the Japan defence it was a very close call for the Japanese goverment because their leader Tojo was at a base that was almost bombed. -
Battle of Midway
This was the turning point in the war between Japan and the U.S. Before this point the U.S. was losing. In this four day air and naval battle the U.S. succeeded in destroying 4 Japanese battleships while losing only 1 of theirs. -
D-Day and Operation Overlord
This is the day when the allied forces decide to take Eastern Europe back which is mostly in the German forces. -
Operation Valkyrie
This was the plan to overthrow the central government in Berlin and kill Hitler at the same time. Hitler survived and had over 5000 of his own men killed. -
Battle of the Bulge
This Battle was the largest German offences in the war. They launched 250,000 troops at 80,000 Americans. The battle waged for three weeks and was the second largest loss to American troops. It would not end until American bombers could strafe German forces. -
Adolf Hilter Commits Sucicide
Dug in his bunker in Berlin, Adolf Hilter commits suicide by swallowing a cyanide capsule and shooting himself in the head. After this Germany unconditionally surrenders, ending Hitler's dream of a 1000 year long Reich. -
V-E Day
This is the day American troops and British troops celebrated the victory of WWII -
Little Boy Dropped
This was the day the first atom bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. 80,000 people died as a direc t hit and 60,000 more would die in less than a year from the fallout. -
Fat Man dropped
A second atom bomb is dropped on Nagasaki. This is finally the last staw and forces Japan to unconditionally surrender. -
V-J day
America celebrates the formal surrender of Japan. -
Nuremburg Trials
A series of trials to bring justice to the Nazi officals who were accused of war crimes. 24 would be tried and over a year later half would be killed by hanging. -
Japanese War Crime Trials
This was when Japanese officals accused of crimes against humanity were sentenced to life inprisonment and death were dealt with.
