    The Great depression is when 10% of Americains were out of work due to the stock market. People invested in the stock market to become rich.These people lsot their money when the stock market crashed.
  • Japan conquers Manchuria

  • Hitler becomes Chancellor of Germany

    Hitler becomes the leader of Germany. Hitler was part of the Nazi party and started social Darwinism.
  • Roosevelt elected into Presidency

    Franklin Roosevelt was elected into Presidency and started the first hundred days. He also began the fireside talks. In the talks he talked about what he was doing in congress to help the economy.
  • Rome-Berlin Axis

    A treaty in which Hitler and the Chanecllor of Rome become allies. This group became known as the Axis powers. Later on Japan join the Axis powers and resulted in incoursging the U.S. to join th war.
  • Kristallnacht

    Kristallnacht was when the Nazi's brought terror to the Jews by destoring their property and killing them during the night. Kristallnact also means night of broken glass.

    When Britain told Germany to not invade Poland. They also said if Germany did invade Poland they would attack Germany.

    Germany invades Austria. The Austrians welcomed the Germans because most of the Austrians were the same race as the Germans.

    Hitler Implemented the Final Solution which forced all Jews under German control to go to a concretration camp. In the camps they killed Jews or put them to work.

    An Act passed by congress letting the U.S. send supplies and machines to Europe for profit. This helped the U.S. relieve it'sself of the Great Depression and become a normal economy again.

    The Day of Infamy Roosvelt called it. this was when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor Hawaii and 2,400 people were killed. Some of the people were military men and some were civilians.

    Japanese-AMerican Incarceration

    WHen the U.S. sent Japanese-Americans into concentration camps to stay there while WWII was going on so they didnt attack the U.S.. Many Japanese people would of helped the war effort if they were out of the camps.
  • Tuskegee Airmen

    A group mostly made up of Africain Americans created an Air Force division and called them selves the Tuskegee Airmen. Over 1 million African Americans and 300,000 Mexican American were involved in the air squad.

    A march in which the Japanese forced American troops back onto one side of an island. They also starved the prissoners til hey died.
  • Battle of Mid-way

    A turning point in the war for the Pacific in which the U.S. pushed the Japanese forces back from mid-way island and into their own waters. After the battle Japan's forces were pushed back to their main land.
  • Manhatten Project

    A project that the U.S. made to build an atomic bomb in case of emerceny. Later on nuclear bombs played a major part in the Cold War.
  • Britian defeats Germany in El Alaimien

    A canal in the South Pacific in which the American troops fought the Japanese for strategic control.
  • Germany Surrenders in Stalingrad

    The Germans attacked the Soviet city of Stalingrad and surrendered. This allows the Soviets to attack the Germans.
  • D-Day

    A turning point in WWII in which the U.S. Britian and Canada attacked the French coast to get troops back onto the mainland of Europe. The U.S. attscked two beaches, the British attacked two and the Canadians attacked one. The Allies won the battle.
  • Battle of the Bludge

    Hitlers final assualt on the Allies. The Allies got pushed back in two places then regrouped and killed 120000 German soldiers.

    The U.S. taking over Iwo Jima letting them have access near the Japanese homeland. This meant that the U.S. could have a base near Japan.

    A conference in which the Big Three attended and consulted on post-war Europe. They also decided to create a goverment for post-war Europe.
  • Allied forces invade Berlin, Germany Surenders

    The Allied forces invade Berlin making the German forcers surrender. This was the end of WWII in Europe.

    The U.S. closiest base to Japan giving them a close base to Japan. This was also the last stop for the Atomic bombs before attacking Japan.

    President Roosevelt had urged AMericans not to turn their backs on the world again. Unlike the League of Nations, the U.S. is a member of the United Nations.

    President Roosevelt dies making vice Predsident Truman the leader of the U.S.. President Truman was the President that dropped the bomb on Japan.

    Allies held the Potsdam Conference to plan the war's end. Decision was made to put Nazi war criminals on trial.
  • Atomic Bomb drop #1: Hiroshima

    An Atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima killing thousands of people and damaging property for life. This was one of two bombings.

    24 defendants including some of Hitler's top officer. Hermann Goering. Charged with crimes against humanity. 19 found guilty, 12 sentenced to death. people are responsible for their actions, even in wartime.
  • Marshall PLan

    Congress approved secretary of State George Marshall's plan to help boost European economies. The U.S. gave more than $13 billion to help the nations of Europe get back on their feet.
