Hitler attacks Poland after signing a non aggression pact. After the Germans attack Poland France and Britain declare war on Germany. This was called the sitting or phony war. -

Pearl Harbor was bombed by the Japanese. The U.S. knew of this attack because they decoded a Japanese message but did not know where the attack was coming from and how to be prepared. -
Germany surrenders
At the battle of the Bulge Germany was doing poorly and to surrender. The Allies ended up beating Germany and the Germans surrendered to General Eisenhower. -
Allies use atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
After Pearl Harbor the Japanese were a big threat to the the U.S. and the U.S. felt it was nesessary to drop an atomic bomb in Japan to end the war. -
United Nations Formed
The United Nations were formed after WWII in order to rey and keep peace throughout the world. No one wanted another world war.
