Japan Bombs Pearl Harbor
On December 7th, Japan launched a suprise attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The U.S. had no idea that this was coming and were very unprepared for it. This left the U.S. with many sunken ships and many deaths. -

British and U.S. troops land on the beaches of Normandy opening up a second front against Germany. A second front would greatly reduce the number of troops and materials that Germany could have against the Eastern front. -
U.S. lands in Phillipines
On this day, U.S. troops land in Germany as a preparation for an invasion by General Douglas MacArthur. The Battles that took place here were some of the bloodiest of the war. -

The Germans final offensive was the Battle of the Buldge. The intended on splitting the British and US forces by using the river. -
Germany Retreats
After having more than 100,000 caualties in the Battle of the Buldge, the Germans decided to retreat. Nearly all of the German gains are eliminated by the end of January. -

On this day, Adolph Hitler commits suicide. This was done by a gun while he was hiding away in his bunker in Berlin.
