1935 Hitler
In 1935, Hitler began to defy the Treaty of Versailles that had ended WWI. France and Britain let Germany increase the size of their army which was a violation of the treaty. -
Anschluss
Hitler sent roops into Austria to unify the two countries. It was important because Austria's chancellor gave in to the demand. It led to war because they were expanding their territory to have more people and land. -
Czechoslovakia
Hitler announced that tthe Germans claimed the Sudetenland. The Czechs resisted Germany's demands for the Sudetenland. THe outcome was Neville Chamberlain pledging Britain's support to France. -
Munich Confrence
Britain and France agreed to Hitler's demands, a policy that came to be known as appeasement. They felt is they game him what he wanted they would avoind war. Czechoslovakia was told to give up the Sudetenland or fight Germany on its own. -
Danzig
A month ater the Muich Conference, Hitler demanded that the city of Danzig be returned to German control. Hitler's new demands convinced Britain and France that was was inevitable. The outcome was that if Poland went to war, Britain and France would come to its aid. -

The Polish army was not able to hold off the Germans. This led to WWII because Poland was taken over by Germany which angered Britain and France. -
Phony War
The British had sent troops to France, and both countries remained on the defensive. This led to WWII because they were waiting for Germany to attack. -
Invasion of France
They waited for Germany to come to them not thinking they would go through Belgium. The French went to help and Germany came from the side and was able to invade France. This led to WWII becasue Germany was able to gain more ground and get France trapped. -
Evacuation at Dunkirk
This was the only hope for Britain and France to survive but the Germans captured all but the port at Dunkirk. This impacted WWII because Hitler decided to not invade Dunkirk thinking that Britain would be more willing to accept peace if they didn't invade Dunkirk. -
French Surrender
The French surrendered in order to stop Hitler from conquering the country of Britain. This impacted WWII because it stopped the fighting for the time being. -
Battle of Britain
The German Air Force began to attack British shipping in th English Channel. They then launched an all out air battle to destroy the Royal Air Force. This affected WWII because this resumed the fighting that had seemed to stop.
