Saturday Surprises
Hitler begun to rebuild the German Air Force, but under the Treaty of Versallies it was forbidden. By doing this Hitler was breaking the Treaty of Versallies. The other countries allowed this to happen becuase they feared they may start another war if they tried to stop Hitler. -
Taking Austria
Germany invades Austria to make it apart of "the greater Geramny." 99.7% of the people who voted in Austria approved for the invasion. They did not think it was worth it to start a new war. -
Appeasing Hitler
Hitler was was turning his attention to plans od invading Czechoslovakia. When tensions grew tight Germany, Italy, France, and Britain me toghether to decide the fate of Czechoslovakia. They decided Germany could have the territory of Sudetenland but it would be the last territory Germany could gain. -
Death Threats and Broken Promises
Hitler conqured all of Czechoslovakia and broke another promise. "Peace in our time," the promise Hitler agreed to that Germany would not conqure any more, had only worked for six months. Now Britian and France were concerned about Poland and the US was also concerned. -
Targeting Poland
Germany declared war on Poland after "an attack on Gleiwitz" but was actually done by Nazis. Three days after that Germany marched into Poland and Great Britain, and France declared war on Germany arating WWII. It only took 18 days to capture Poland and start deporting all the Jews to wrok camps. -
Conquests in the East
Poland surrendered to Germany in 1939. Right away Germany begun to make work camps and segergate the Jews in many ways. They acomplished doing this is just months unlike in Germany where it took years. -
Conquests in the West
Hitler now controls all Western Europe besides Great Britatin. Antisemitism was required by all conquered nations. Jews were not allowed to have certian jobs, they had to be segergated, and many other things. But in the Netherlands the people turned to one side: anti-German, and helped the Jews. -
The Invasion of Russia
When Germany invaded Russia anyone who was against it or a possible threat would be murdered. Russia Jews did not know the danger that faced them. But by the time the Germans got to them it was too late. The Germans killed thousands of Jews, Poles, Gypsies and anyone else who was the "other." -
The United States Enters WWII
Japan bombs Pearl Harbor the day before the U.S. enters the war. Great Britian, Soviet Russia and the U.S. unite to win the war against Germany. Three of the worlds strongest countries will be needed to win WWII.
