Imperialism was created by the Europeans who desired to conquer all the lands globally. As they came to an end of taking over the lands they desired, imperial powers turned on each other. The amounts of land and the need for dominance led to conflicts with imperial lands. -
CAUSE- Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand
Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand: Ferdinand was assassinated in Sarajevo by Serbian nationalists who despised him. In one attempt, an assassin tried to kill him by throwing a bomb at his car, however, it did not hit him. However, a different Serbian named Princip, shot Ferdinand and his wife dead. EVENT- Twenty-One Demands
Japan advances its imperial; interests in China. They gave 21 secret demands to China in order to become a protectorate. China submitted to the majority of them, however, rejected the others. They discussed what the Japanese were doing with the British, therefore the British stood up for them. -
EVENT- Battle at Verdun

CONSEQUENCE LEADING TO WWII- Treaty of Versailles
The Treaty of Versailles blamed the Germans for WWI and stated that they must pay millions to repay the damage. They were only allowed to have a small army and six naval ships, and their land was taken away from them, given to other lands. This caused an outburst in German society who believed it was too cruel. CONSEQUENCE LEADING TO WWII- Hitler/Nazis
Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party became prominent in Germany. Hitler became the dictator of Germany because Germany was desperate for their economy to rise. He was too ambitious and did not keep his word with other lands. -
The Holocaust
The Holocaust began because of Hitler, who believed that everyone who wasn't German was less superior. They were sent to concentration camps where millions of innocent Jews were killed. -
Battle of Stalingrand
This was a major battle in the war where the Nazis of Germany fought against the Soviet Union for the city of Stalingrad in Russia. After the battle ended, the Soviet union won, while the German Army was destroyed. -
CONSEQUENCE OF WWII- Germany
Germany was divided into four parts and was controlled by the United States, Great Britain, France, and the Soviet Union. As there was disagreement, the country eventually split into two sides, one capitalist and the othersocialist. -
CONSEQUENCE OF WWII- Women's Rights
While the men fought in the war, the majority of jobs became unoccupied. Therefore, the women took up the men's jobs, some who never had worked, giving them independence and confidence. When the war ended and the men came back, the women didn't give up their jobs and they didn't have to rely on male income within the family.
