  • Archduke Assassination

    Archduke Assassination
    The annexation of Bosnia and Herzegovina had angered Serbian nationalists, which they believed that the territories should be part of Serbia, so Archduke and his wife, Sophie were murdered. Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated which sparked World War 1.

  • Russia Mobilizes

    Russia intervenes and helps out to attack Serbia. This makes other countries mobilize to be prepared and safe for what comes.
  • The Beginning of WWI

    Germany begins World War 1 by taking over Belgium.
  • Italy

    Italy originally sided with the Central Powers. But later, Italy joined WW1 on the side of the Triple Entente and declared war on Austria-Hungary in May 1915 and Germany in August 1916.
  • Germans Fire

    The Germans fire the first shells filled with chlorine gas at Allied lines. They try to stop the breach that the French have made during the war. The chlorine gas was not enough to stop the French.
  • Lusitania Sinks

    It was a passenger lines that carried 1,198 people on it, 128 of those were Americans. This was a mistake for the Germans for trying to intervene on people who were from countries that are neutral in the war.
  • Germany Limits Submarines

    The outrage began at the sinking of the Lusitania and other neutral passenger lines. Most of these boats were filled with Americans, and the Americans were not involved with the war. Germany resumes unrestricted submarine warfare in European waterways which draws the United States to join the war
  • First Tank

    First Tank
    The very first tank was put into the war by the British. They were useful at breaking through barbed wire and clearing paths, the tanks were still primitive and they fail to be the decisive weapon.
  • The Zimmerman Telegram

    It translated the Germans message to know what they are saying. What they found out was that they were trying to be allied with Mexico and help them out, in return they will help them get Texas back to Mexico and Mexico refused. In return, the Western Hemisphere pushes American public opinion to support entering the war.
  • Wilson For War

    President Wilson outlines his case for war to Congress.
  • U.S. Enters the War

    U.S. Enters the War
    Congress declares war against Germany. The United States enters World War I on the side of France and Britain.

  • Selective Service Act

    Congress passes the Selective Service Act authorizing the draft. Trying not to destroy the democracy, President Wilson claims he sees no other option and signs the bill into law.
  • German Citizens Began Striking

    The people were starving and the economy was collapsing because British navy boats were blocking all the German ports. This led to the people protesting to try and end the war.
  • Germany & Russia

    The Germans sign a peace treaty with the Bolshevik government of Russia. The treaty gives Germany huge land that had been the Ukraine and Poland. With peace on the Eastern Front allows Germany to shift soldiers to the Western Front, causing serious problems for the French, British, and Americans.
  • Wilhelm Abdicates

    Kaiser Wilhelm abdicates, ending all German hope for a victory. He lives out the remainder of his life in relative peace and writes a self-promoting memoir defending his actions in the war.
  • The End of WWI

    The End of WWI
    It took exactly 5 years to finish the war since the assassination of Francis Ferdinand. An armistice was signed by the end of the war on November 11, 1918.
  • The Treaty of Versailles

    The Treaty of Versailles
    Germany had to take the blame and was responsible for the cause of World War 1. They had to surrender some of their territories and colonies and limit the size of their military.
  • The League of Nations

    It was formed to stop any other war from preventing. It also helped rebuild Europe after World War 1 and 53 nations had joined by 1923.
  • Germany Joins the League of Nations

    By 1926, Germany joins the League of Nations, but by 1933, Germany and Japan withdrawal from the league of nations from the harsh conditions of the Treaty of Versailles. Italy also withdraws in 1936.
  • The Movement Towards World War II

    The League of Nations could not stop Germany, Italy, and Japan from expanding their power. They took over smaller countries and many believe that World War 1 didn’t really end and World War 2 was an extension of it.
