Assassination of Franz Ferdinand
He takes a trip through Serbia and chose to tour Serbia in an open top car. A bomb was thrown and blows up close to them. It shakes up Ferdinand and his Wife then they round a corner and a Serbian Nationalist named Gavrilo Princip shoots and kills Ferdinand and his wife Sophie in the capital city. -

One month to the date since Franz Ferdinand's assassination Austria-Hungary declares war on Serbia. -
The Schlieffen Plan
Germany would attack France first by traveling through Belgium, and take Paris in about 3 weeks. France would surrender once Paris was taken, and then Germany would attack Russia. -

The Allies Consisted of Britain, France, Russia. and eventually Italy. -
First Battle of the Marne
In the first battle of the Marne Germany invades Belgium and the Schlieffen Plan works at first by forcing the allies back to Marne River 25 miles from Paris. Germany had used up all of their advantages in earlier battles so it let the French be able to push back the Germans. France won the battle because they took advantage of the Germans overextension. -
The Sinking of RMS Lusitania
Germany implemented submarine warfare on the United Kingdom because Lusitania was carrying 173 tons of war munitions for Britain which is why Germany thought they had the right to attack it. The attack killed 1,198 of the 1,959 people on board. The U.S sent three notes to Berlin protesting the action at occurred and Germany apologized and pledged to end unrestricted submarine warfare. -
First Battle of The Somme
The Battle of the Somme was a joint operations between Britain and France forces. It was the one of the largest battles in the war, with more than 1,000,000 causalities. It was also one of the most bloodiest battles in human history. The purpose for the battle was to pull German forces away from the Battle of Verdun. -
America Declares War
Woodrow Wilson did not like war at all and did not want America to be involved in the war. He had not choice but to do so when Germany sank 5 merchant ships that was close to the British Isles. This was a major turning point in the war. -
Russia Surrenders
Vladimir Lenin becomes leader of Russia and decides to remove them from the war because he wanted to concentrate on building up a colonist state. He achieved the removal by the Treaty of Brest Litovsk which gave Germany the territory of Ukraine, Finland, and Polish and Baltic territories. -
Treaty of Versailles
The Treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty that ended WWI. It was debated for 6 months to have the treaty be a thing. Woodrow Wilson though that the treaty was much harder than he wanted it to be and the central powers surrendered colonies
