Versailles Treaty
Britain, France and the U.S. make a treaty, blaming Germany for the war. Germany is forced to give up all territory, they cannot unite with Austria, and they have to downsize their army. -
League of Nations
The world's first international security organization is made, called the League of Nations. This organization was put in place to resolve international disputes. This excludes Germany and Russia, while America did not want to join. Its headquarters are in Geneva, Switzerland. -
Communist International
The purpose of the Communist International was to encourage the ideals of the Communist Party, and worldwide revolutions. -
Fascism in Italy
Mussolini became the Prime Minister in Italy. There was a lot of violence from those who did not agree with Mussolini. He had complete control over everything, and enforced censorship, and propaganda. -
Hopeful Years
1924 through 1929 were the years that European international relations had agreements that ease reparations. This gave hope to the Europeans by giving them the thought of peace. -
Stalin Comes to Power
After Lenin's death, Stalin wins the election against his political opponents. He brings the five year plan, which forces industrialization onto Russia. He would also have purges, set up the gulag, and violent fights all against people who politically disagreed with him. -
Depression Around the World
The U.S. stock market crashes, which causes the whole world to go into a depression. Everyone is struggling for jobs, and to just get enough money for food. Many people died from starvation. -
Japan Invades Manchuria
Japan had an undeclared war against China, and invades Manchuria. The Japanese claim that the Chinese soldiers ruined the railway, and they attacked, then this caused them to invade Manchuria. -
The Third Reich
Hitler becomes Chancellor of Germany, and starts laying down the laws he wants, and he was the leader of the Nazi party. He starts setting up concentration camps, and blaming the Jews for Germany's problems. His ruling was called the Third Reich. -
Germany Withdraws From the League of Nations
The Third Reich withdraws from the League of Nations. They did this because the Western powers refused to let Germany have an equal military, which they were angry about, so they withdrew.
