Battle of Britain
During the time slot of August through October 1940 the battle of Britain occurred. This was a battle in which the German airforce tried to take control of the Royal Airforce (Great Britain), Germany however failed to do so. The unsuccessful invasion prevented Germany from invading Britain. This happened because France had surrendered to Germany, so Nazis plan to invade Britain, but Hitler thinks they can't without weakenng the RAF to such an extent that they can no longer fight. -
Operation Barbarossa
Hitler cancels invasion of Britain, changing forces onto Russia/Soviet Union. Axis makes massive invasion on Soviets, but Russian Winter halted the Germans overpowering. Hitler had failed in the end. This happened because Hitler wanted the Soviets natural resources like their fertile land, their land in general, and oil and minerals. 800,000 Soviets were killed after the attack and 6 million wounded or captured, but Soviets launched major counterattack leading them back from Moscow. -
Pearl Harbor
Japan bombed US naval base Pearl Harbor in Oahu, Hawaii. 2,400 US dead, @ US ships sunk, and multiple planes and ships were destroyed. It happened because Japan was angry with the US for stopping their trade connection and for freezing financial assets of Japan in US banks. It ended in the US declaring was on Japan, joining WW2. -
Bataan Death March

During the Bataan Death March Japan struck the American held Phillipines majority of military aircrafts. Prisoners were forced to march 85 miles to a new prison camp throughout the Phillipines. The result was the death of many Americans, more Filipinos, and the surrender of an American troop to Japan. -
Operation Overlord
This was a Land-air-naval invasion or bombardment. Churchill secured East and West flanks of beachheads. Hitler fooled by Allied decpetion plan, believed real-landings were still to come. Nazis immobile near Paris. Allies win Air superiority winning France from the Nazis and stopping the Axis powers from takingo over more of Europe. -
Battle of the Bulge
December 16, 1944-January 25, 1945 at this time Germany launched their last major offensive move of the War. Initially 250,000 soldiers were involved in the assault. It happened in the Ardennes: Belgium, Luxemborg, and Nazi Germany. The goal was to split the Allied forces which would cause corruption on their part allowing Hitler's armies to attack and get the Allies to surrender. In the end, though, Germany lost this battle which kept the Allies from losing the war. -
Yalta Conference
February 4-11 1945, at this time FDR, Churchill, and Josef Stallin met for the purpose of discussing Europe's post war organization, they decided to split Germany into 4 occupation zones, Stalin agreed to hold free elections in Poland (but reneged).
USSR to declare war on Japan within 90 days of the defeat of Germany.
Germany to be demilitarized and denazified.
German war criminals to be put on trial. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
February 19-March 26, 1945 in order to defeat Japan and end WW2 for Americans, the US took part in a three-part plan to win the war in the Far East. Americans seize the island of Iwo Jima. To defeat the Japanese and put an end to their war we did this. By capturing this island they could attack Japan more easily. This ends in American victory and the Axis forces in Japan surrendered. -
V-E Day
V-E day marks the day in Europe when the Allied forces had officially won the war after the death of Adolf Hitler. It happened because Hitler's suicide left the rest of the Axis powers in chaos under Russia (Zhukov and Konev). Germany had collapsed and surrendered because of the corruption within their government and nation. The outcome was the end of the war in Europe. -
Dropping the Bomb...The Atomic Bomb
This happened on August 6-9 in 1945. US dropped the first Atomic bomb on Hiroshima to end the war in the Far East and by getting Japan to surrender, the Axis powers would hopefully surrender, too. Because they knew they were to lose without a powerful Japan, because of this the war ends. -
V-J Day
Japan surrenders to the Allies unconditionally because the atomic bomb's major destruction of Japan, if they would not have surrendered their whole country would've fallen apart. Victory in Japan Day, the outcome was that we beat Japan...Fairly self-explanatory.
