    Japan invades China

    Japan invaded China, trying to gain more land.
  • Munich conference

    The Muich conference, or Muich agreement was a gathering of several countries to discuss the issue of Germany (lead by Hitler) annexating The Sudetenland. This part of Czechoslovakia was strategically very important for Germany. At the end of the conference, France and Britain agreed to let Hitler have the Sudentenland but making him promise he would not try to gain more land after that.

    Pact made between Hitler (Germany) and Staline (URSS), it guaranteed that the two countries would not attack each other. By doing so, Hitler made sure he would not have to fight on both side of his country. The treaty also divided secretly the territories of Romania, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Finland into German and Soviet territories.

    On September 1 1939, Germany invades Poland, violating the agreement made during the Munich Conference with France and Britain. This event was theofficial start of the Second World War. France and Britain declared war to Germany right after this.

  • Battle of Britain

    The Battle of Britain put an end to the winning streak and lightning striking the Germans, it marked a milestone in the course of World War II. It opposed the air forces of the United Kingdom and Germany , supported by Italy, in an air campaign marked by the bombing of Coventry and London , often referred to as the " Blitz ." This large-scale operation was conducted by the Luftwaffe to destroy the Royal Air Force.

    The Lend Lease act was signed into law on March 11, 1941, by president Roosevelt. It was signed so the United states would send supplies to allied countries like France, Britain, China or the URSS. A total of $50.1 billion worth of supplies were shipped. This ended the US state of neutrality regarding international affairs.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa was the code name for the invasion of the URSS by the Germans. This was the largest invasion in military history by the number of mobilized soldiers and losses. There were nearly four million German soldiers entering the Soviet Union. In addition to the troops , Operation Barbarossa mobilized 600,000 vehicles and 600,000 horses. This invasion was a turning point in the war , until then mostly European, it would spread to the whole world.

    The Holocaust

    Between 1941 and 1945, Jews were targeted and methodically murderer by germans. They thought that the Aryen race was superior and that Jews were responsible for the financial struggle of Germany.
  • Pearl Harbor

    On December 7 1941, Japanes planes attacked Pearl harbor, an American naval base located in Hawaii. All the US ships were very close and it was very easy for Japanese to attack them. Almost 3000 american soldiers died this day. This marked a turning point of the war because it influenced Roosevelt to declare war against Japan and Germany.

    The Wannsee Conference met in a villa in Berlin, January 20, 1942 , Hitler and his nazis leaders would discuss about the final decision about what they were going to do with the Jews.
  • Bataan Death March

    Japanes transfered thousands of american and filipino prisoners. They had to walk for 60 miles and many of them died during the march.The march went from Mariveles, Bataan, to San Fernando, Pampanga. From San Fernando, survivors were loaded to a box train and were brought to Camp O'Donnell in Capas, Tarlac.

  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Hitler and the germans attacked the Soviet Union. They tried to gain power over the city of Stalingrad. It is the single largest and bloodiest battle in the history of warfare. It was a turning point of the war because the Nazis never went further East and had to withdraw troops they had left on the west to compensate the losses.

    D-Day is the day when American, British and Candian troops landed in Normandie, France. it is the largest sea born invasion in history and resulted in an allie victory. It lead to the restoration of the Fench republic and played a key role in forcing the end of the war in Europe.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge is the name given to all military operations which took place on the set of Bastogne in Belgium and the north of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg during the winter of 1944-1945 . The battle begins December 16, 1944 by a German surprise attack , which was given the name " Rundstedt Offensive ". Generalfeldmarschall Rundstedt was opposed to it : he believed that the goal was too ambitious.

    The battle of Iwo jima was a major battle of ww2. Americans attacked Japan and captured the island of Iwo Jima. It was the bloodiest battle of the war of Pacific during ww2.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    The Battle of Okinawa was fought on the Ryukyu Islands of Okinawa. the Allies were approaching Japan, and planned to use Okinawa as an air base. The battle resulted in the highest number of deaths in the Pacific war during World War II.

    V-E the public holiday celebrated on 8 May 1945 in Europe marked the end of the war in Europe. On April 30 Hitler comitted suicide during the battle of Berlin. The act of military surrender was signed on 7 May in Reims, France and on 8 May in Berlin, Germany.

    Americans bombed the city of Hiroshima, Japan on Agust 6 1945 because Japanes did not want to surrender, it played a major role in Japan surrendering.

    V-J day means "victory over Japan". It represents the day when Japan surrendered to the United States.
