  • Japan Invades China

    This invasion began when the Kwantung Army invaded Manchuria. Western media reported these events with accounts of atrocity with such things as people shooting civilians or soldiers bombing already shell shocked civilians.
  • The Holocaust

    This was a major killing of people such as Jews and all other people that were not aryan. This was the largest genocide in the 20th century. The holocaust was led by Hitler and the Nazi army. Mass amounts of Jews were taken to concentration camps and were killed there.
  • Munich Confrence

    This was the confrence during which Great Britain, France, and Italy agreed that Germany would be allowed to annex certain parts of Czechoslovakia. This happend as appeasment to Hitler's demands.
  • Non-Aggression Pact

    This was national treaty between two or more states/countries agreeing to avoid war or armed conflict between them and resolve their disputes through peaceful confrontations.
  • Blitzkrieg

    This describes a method of warfare where an attacking force spearheaded by a dense concentration of armoured and motorized infantry formations, and heavily backed up by close air support.
  • Germany Invades Poland

    Some 1.5 million German troops invade Poland all along its border with German-controlled territory. At the same time, the German Luftwaffe bombed Polish airfields, and German warships and U-boats attacked Polish naval forces in the Baltic Sea.

    This was the first major campaign to be fought entirely by air forces. This battle was waged by the German airforce, the Luftwaffe.
  • Lend-Lease Act

    Passed in March 1941, the Lend-Lease Act was the main way for providing U.S. military aid to foreign nations during World War II. This authorized the president to transfer arms and other defense materials for which Congress appropriated money to.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    This was the code name for Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union during World War II.The malicious operation was driven by Adolf Hitler's desire to conquer the Soviet territories.
  • Pearl Harbor

    This was a bombing of the naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The Japenese flew over and bombed many U.S. ships. This was one of the most famous bombings of WW2. Pearl Harbor was also part of the reason the the U.S. entered WW2
  • Wannsee Confrence

    This was a confrence of the officials of Nazi Germany and it was held in the Berlin suburb of Wannsee. The point of this confrence was to ensure the cooperation of administrative leaders of different government departments. This confrence also outlined how European Jews would be rounded up from west to east.
  • Bataan Death March

    This was the forcible transfer by the Imperial Japanese Army of Filipino and American prisoners of war after the three-month Battle of Bataan in the Philippines . Many were beaten and mistreated on the way.
  • Battle of Midway

    This battle was one of the most important naval battles of World War II. Japanese planned to lure U.S. aircrafts into a trap. This plan was cut short by false japanese assumptions of how the U.S would react.

    This was a major battle of WW2 in which the Nazi army fought the Soviet Union for control of Stalingrad. This battle was a turning point in the Europen theature of WW2
  • D-Day

    D-Day is the day of the Normandy landings. This was the landing of the Allied powers as an effort to free Europe from Nazi occupation. The plan was for allied powers to take over the beach of normandy. They were succesful but at the cost of many soldiers lives
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge was a major German that took place in the Ardennes region of Wallonia Belguim. This event was planned by Hitler with much secrecy but the U.S. was able predict the attack

    Battle of Iwo Jima

    A major battle in which the United States Armed Forces fought for and captured the island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese. Iwo Jima was the only battle by the U.S. Marine Corps in which the Japanese combat deaths were three times those of the Americans throughout the battle.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    This was a battle fought on the Ryukyu Islands. Allies were approaching Japan, and planned to use Okinawa as a base for thier operation. This battle resulted in the highest casualties in the pacific theature.
  • V-E Day

    This was the day that marked victory in Europe. This holiday is celebrated to mark the end of WW2.
  • Warsaw Pact

    This was a treaty among eight communist states of Central and Eastern Europe in existence during the Cold War. This was the military complement to the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance.
  • The Bombing of Hiroshima/Nagasaki

    This happend during the final stage of WW2 and it was when the U.S dropped two atomic bombs one on Hiroshima and the other on Nagasaki. The bombs were made in the U.S. and are part of the Manhattan project.
  • V-J Day

    On August 14, 1945, it was announced that Japan had surrendered unconditionally to the Allies. This officially ended World War 2. August 14 and 15 are celebrated as VJ day of Victoryover Japan Day.
