  • Japan invades China

    The Japanese army grew strong and brutal and they felt they could begin to expand and conquer. They first began by attacking Southern China. They moved through rivers and and railroad lines to the interior of China, this led into a full-blown dispute leading to war.
  • Munich Conference

    The Munich Conference was a meeting held in Munich, Germany that discussed options with the major powers. It was a form of appeasement for Germany, telling them they could expand slightly into Czechoslovakia. However, Czechoslovakia was not present at the conference and felt betrayed by the other countries. This was later deemed a failure to try and make a compromise to settle Germany.
  • Non-Aggression Pact

    Treaty to avoid conflicts between nations. This Pact was created to instead of fighting to resolve disputes, the countries would discuss it and work out a peaceful compromise. One of the most famous was the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. However, this pact did not end long and was soon ended by the invasion of the Soviet Union by Germany.
  • Germany Invades Poland

    German forces promised not to invade the neutral country of Poland. Poland at the time had been part of the Soviet Union, causing Germany to go against their word when they invaded it. Forces invaded Poland from the north, south, and west. Poland did not fight back, and instead removed their bases and forces. Althought Poland was not fighting, Russia was very upset and declared war upon Germany.
  • Blitzkrieg

    Blitzkrieg is German for Lightning war. This war stretegy involved attacks by Germany that are short and powerful, much like lightning. They used tanks and aircraft to launch quick and damaging assaults which causes the enemy to have limited time to react. Because of the fast speed of this tact, enemies do not have time to prepare and fight back swiftly and intelligently.
