Ending on 2/27/1932, The invasion of Manchuria was a Japanese invasion to take control of Manchuria. This is important because at the time America did nothing to Japan because they wanted to remain friends. -
The Rape of Nanjing
This was a Japanese invasion on the Chinese capital at the time. It was savagery down to the very definition and countless atrocities were committed there. The event was hidden by America to keep that Eastern door open for the U.S. This was one of the most horrific events of WW2 and was one of the starting events of Japans expanding hostility. -
Anschluss
Germany annexes Austria. In Germany's goal to unite all German people, Germany started taking control of any place that had German-speaking people in it. Austria willingly asked Hitler to take control of them. This marked the point where Germany really started taking land. -
Munich Pact
This was an agreement to Nazi Germany's annexation to Sudetenland. Germany betrayed the agreement and took the rest of Czechoslovakia a few months later. This was more fule for the Allied appeasement of Germany to prevent war. -
Kristallnacht
Meaning "night of broken glass" this event was sparked when a Jewish citizen shot and killed a German political figure. Hitler's response to the event was swift and brutal, for it was an opening to go "fix" his so-called "Jewish Problem". Jews and their homes, businesses, synagogues, and schools were all targeted and countless buildings were destroyed. Moreover; nearly 100 Jewish people were killed. -
Non-Aggression Pact
Germany and Russia sign an agreement to not attack each other. This was done because Hitler did not want to fight a two-front war once war inevitably broke out. Hitler would eventually break this to the surpirse of Russia and to the detriment of Nazi Germany. -
The Invasion of Poland
Ending on 10/6/1939, The Invasion of Poland was a German invasion to take control of Poland. This plan went through because Poland was basically clueless and defenseless. This event marked the official beginning of WW2. -
Lend Lease Act
This was an agreement for the U.S to assist the Allies during the war with oil, food, etc. This was about one year before the U.S entered the war. -
Evacuation of Dunkirk
Ending on June 4th 1940, The Evacuation of Dunkirk was an operation to evacuate Allied soldiers from the Beaches and harbor of Dunkirk. This was a close call because the Allied forces were backed up there because of advancing German forces. -
Tri-Partite Agreement
An agreement which involved the U.S, France, and Great Britain entering an international monetary agreement to stablize their currencies both at home and in international exchange markets. -
Operation Barbarossa
Code name for the invasion of Russia by the Germans. This leads to a resounding failure on the German front and was one of the turning points of the war. This marks the point of Russia going against Germany. -
Pearl Harbor Bombing
This was a surprise military attack on the U.S from Japan in an attempt to cripple the U.S. This obviously did not work too well and lead to the entry of the U.S into WW2. This also leads to all Japanese citizens being put in our own watered down, still just as crazy, Japanese concentration camps. -
Battle of Midway
This was a battle involving U.S and Japan. This U.S victory halted Japans march through the Pacific and the battle ended with only 1 ship going down, so the U.S had access to 4 carriers available to use during the Guadacanal Campaign. -
D-Day Invasion
Allies invade Normandy during Operation Overlord. Allied forces lay siege against German forces on the beaches of Normandy. This was one of the final major battles of WW2 and was one of the major events that ended WW2. -
Liberation of Paris
A battle that took place for the control of Paris. This battle lasted until the German Garrison surrendered the French capital. -
Battle of the bulge
This battle was the last major German offensive campaign on the western front in WW2. This was the 2nd most lethal American battle (19,276 Killed). The battle was fought in a densly forested area, the Ardennes region of Wallonia. The battle ended on 1/25/1945. -
Hitler Commits Suicide
Due to the obviousness of Nazi Germany's defeat, Hitler took his own life. This truly marked the end of the third reich. -
Surrender of Germany
German high command, General Alfred Jodl, Signed the paper that would officially call for the surrender of Germany. This marked the end of Germanys involvement in the War. -
Hiroshima/Nagasaki
These are the names of two cities which had Atom bombs dropped directly on to them. This was after consent from the U.K. This event happened because Japan refused to surrender even though they clearly lost. This effectivly ended Japans involvement in the war and to their surrender.
