    Germany Invades Poland
    On September 1, 1939 Germany would send troops into Poland, over a border dispute on the Dazing territory that Poland held. The invasion came after the signing of the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact between Germany and the Soviet Union. Which led to the 2 great powers invading and partitioning Poland. In the end of it all, France and the UK declared war on Germany.

    Battle of Britain
    On July 10, 1940 after the fall and occupation of France, the German Reich began a large scale air campaign against the UK. The Battle of Britain was just one goal that Hitler wanted to achieve so he could initiate his planned invasion of Britain, also know as Operation Sea Lion. The Battle of Britain was a massive failure for the German Reich, as they failed to neutralize the RAF and gain air superiority in Britain.

    Germany Invades the Soviet Union
    On June 22, 1941 Germany launched Operation Barbarossa. This was launched after the failure of the Luftwaffe in the Battle of Britain. The invasion was massive, nearly 3 million German Soldiers poured into the Soviet Union.

    December 7, 1941 a date that will live in infamy. Early in the morning the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service launched a preemptive strike on the United States, without declaring war. The attack devastated the Pacific Fleet of the United State navy, and resulted in the US getting involved in WW2.

    On 23 August 1942 the German 6th Army began it's attack on the city of Stalingrad (now Volgograd) it was the largest confrontation of world war 2 involving millions of men from both sides. The attack quickly turned disastrous for the Germans, as they were encircled by Soviet troops in a surprising turn of events. This resulted in the surrender of the German 6th Army, and finally a turning point was reached on the Eastern front of world war 2.

    Island hopping was a US strategy in the Pacific Campaign. It meant a detachment of US marines would land on strategically important Japanese islands and then they would clear and secure the islands. At the end of this a Military base would be established and the process would be repeated again.

    The Normandy landings, also know as D-day was the largest seaborne invasion in history. After a carefully prepared misinformation campaign by the Allies. 156,000 American, British, and Canadian troops landed on the beaches of France.

    On January 27, 1945 the Red Army liberated the Auschwitz Concentration Camp. They found the site where nearly 1 million people had been murdered. Although most of the prisoners were moved farther west. 7000 prisoners were found and released.

    2 Japaneses cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bathed in atomic fire. This was done to prevent a lengthy and costly invasion of the Japaneses home islands. This combined with a soviet declaration of war resulted in Japanese surrender.

    Near the end of WW2 when the end of the war seemed apparent. Allied leaders from the Soviet Union, UK and USA gathered to discuss the future of Europe after the war. They decided that Germany would be divided into 4 occupation zones.

    On May 8, 1945 the last remnants of the German Army surrendered. With the total collapse of Germany, victory was declared. And the long process of rebuilding and recovery began.

    On October 24, 1945 the United Nations was formed. The United Nations was formed to prevent a war like WW2 from ever happening again. The UN has continued this mission for decades.

    On November 20th, 1945 the Nuremberg Trials began.The worst war criminals of WW2 were tried at Nuremberg. 24 of some of the worst human beings this planet has ever seen were tried for war crimes.

    After the war Germany was divided into 4 occupation zones by the allies. The Soviet Union, France, The UK, and The USA each got occupation zones in Germany. Germany was occupied for many years after the war.
