  • Invasion Of Poland

    1939 was the year Germany marched into Poland holding guns and carrying explosives. The German Soviet-Pact enabled them to split up Poland, the two powers taking over, not caring about the Soviets intervening. Poland was encircled by war. It wasn’t long until they were turned into rubble and ashes. This event was significant as Poland, being extremely unprepared for war accepted defeat within 2 weeks of the battle starting. Poland gave up on the 27th September 1939, leaving Germany the winner.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    22nd of June 1941 was when Operation Barbarossa (the code name) hit, Axis (the real name), the invasion of the Soviet Union. The attack was located on Northern, Central and Eastern Europe. Hitler ordered 3 million soldiers to smash into soviet territory, pulling down their opponents. The Operation was extremely significant as Germany’s loss of this battle was because of the small resources and the strong opposing Allies.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    July 17, 1942-Feb 2 1943 was an extremely successful Soviet defence, of the city, Stalingrad. The Russians believed was the greatest battle of their Great Patriotic War, as well as a large majority of historians believe it was the greatest battler of WW2. This battle managed to prevent the Germans from reaching the Soviet Union, it “turned the tide of the war” in favour of the Allies. The battle was one of the bloodiest battles in history, nearly 2 million people were murdered.
  • Hitlers Death

    Adolf Hitler killed himself by pistol and pill on the 30th of April 1945. His suicide took place in an underground bunker in Berlin. The soviet army was marching towards the bunker aiming to kill Hitler, pressuring him to suicide. His death forced Germany to surrender to the allies. This marked the end of the war in Europe and marked the start of freedom.
