    Annexation of Sudetenland
    Hitler marched into the Sudetenland in October 1938, the Sudeten catastrophe began in February 1938. Hitler ordered self determination for Germans in Austria and Czechoslovakia.The Sudeten Germans demanded union with Germany and caused so much trouble that they had to impose martial law on the Czechs.     In 1941 Germany invaded the Soviet Union. Stalingrad's battle began in August 1942, when German troops attempted to take control of the town. Stalingrad was felt as an important city in Germany's attempt to take control of Russia's south and that region's oilfields.
