    By the early part of 1039 the german dictator Adolof Hitler had become determined to invade and occupy Poland. Hitler was going to invade Poland, but first he had to think of the possibilities that the Soviet Union would resist the invasion of it's western neighbor. The invasion of Poland was a primer of how Hitler intended to wage war - what would become the "blitzkrieg".

Winston Churchill tried to convince French government to wait, not to sue for peace, that America would enter the war and come to its aid. Paul Reynaudla (a French premier) telegram end president FDR and asked for an aid declaration of war and any help possible. FDR said that the US was willing to have that promise published.

    In the summer of 1939 Whitehall predicted an enemy bombing campaign against Britain in which 700 tones of bombs could be dropped everyday that could kill 600,000 civilians and injure 1.2 million. Hundreds of children fled because they were expecting an invasion by the sea, the government moved many children from coastal towns. But when nothing happened they went home. At the beginning of July 1940 15 people were killed when German bombers attacked the towns aerodrome.

    December 7th is a day that will live in infamy. Because of the tragic event that occurred that day. On this day Japanese planes attacked the US Naval Base in Pearl Harbor Hawaii. This whole event caused more than 2,300 Americans lives. It destroyed the U.S.S. The attack on Pearl Harbor was intended to neutralize the U.S Pacific fleet, and the Dutch East Indies, where it sought access to natural resources as oil and rubber. The thing about was that it was unexpected and it was a surprise attack.

Which includes Malaysia, Singapore, the Dutch Indies, the Philippines, and a bunch of other islands.But the US was a threat that continued growing.

Preparing for this attack both felt the capture of antwerp was to risky.

    In the west the Japanese was being rejected by Burma.Iwo Jima is a very small Pacific island about 4.5 miles long 2.5 miles wide which lies at the foot of the Bonin chain of islands, south of the main Japanese knew that the Iwo Jima Islands was very important so they wanted to be in control. there were like 22,000 soldiers and they had time to build strong defensive position. Iwo Jima was softened up by bombing raids for more than two months.

    The Americans were tired from4 years of war. But japan wouldn't go out without a fight. American forces occupied Okinawa and Iwo Jima were intensely firing bombs at Japanese cities. But Japan had an army of 2 million strong men ready to fight. Harry Truman thought a atomic bomb would kill far fewer people, both military and civilian, than a military invasion of Japan.
