    Japan seizes Manchuria
    This is an important event because Japan wanted to try and take over china because china was weak during this time period. Japan was able take control of Manchuria and occupied it until the end of WW2. This is an important event in the pacific theatre.
  • Hitler Invades Rhineland

    Hitler Invades Rhineland
    This was an important event because this was one of the causes of WW2. Germany was breaking one of the conditions of The Treaty of Versailles and France and Britain did nothing about it. Hitler sent German military forces into the Rhineland, a demilitarized zone along the Rhine River in western Germany. This event helped make Germany's army become more strong as well.

    This was the start of the war in Europe and is referred to as the start of WW2 which is why it is important. WW2 started with the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany. Britain and Germany declared war on each other as well.

    This battle was the longest continuous battle of WW2 and did not end until May 8,1945. During this battle German submarines were trying to sink allied supply ships going to England. The battle ended with Germany's defeat making it an important event. This battle was fought on the sea.

    This is an important event because this is when Germany took over France and took them out of the war. The allies took a big hit by losing France. The fall of France also meant that Hitler controlled nearly all of Western Europe.

    This is an important even because it is one of Hitler's big mistakes which cost him the war. Allied forces were pinned down by German forces at Dunkirk. Britain then organized all its boats and was able to evacuate many allied soldiers. Lots of allied soldiers were evacuated and Britain was still in the war because of it. This event spanned from May 27, 1940 to June 4, 1940.

    The battle of Britain was a significant turning point in WW2 making it an important event. It was a battle fought in the sky. Germany tried to invade Britain and wanted to do it by taking out Britain's air power. But Britain was able to fight off Germany's attack. The battle ended with Germany's Luftwaffe failing to gain air superiority over the Royal Air Force.

    This was a very important event because it is another one of Hitler's mistakes. On June 22, 1941, Germany launched their invasion of the soviet union. But Germany invaded too late because the war had to be fought through bad weather conditions and ended up in the defeat of Germany. Operation Barbarossa went until December 5, 1941.

    Pearl Harbor was an extremely important event because it is what caused the United Stated to join the war. Japanese fighter planes attacked the american navel base near Honolulu, Hawaii. Soon after The U.S declared war on Japan.

    The battle of Stalingrad was a major battle fought in WW2. Germany and the soviet union fought for control of the city of Stalingrad. The soviets won the battle and this was a great humiliation for Hitler. After this battle the German army was in retreat and Russia was able to defend their country from Nazi Germany. This is why this battle is a key event in WW2. This battle ended on February 2, 1943.
  • Battle of Ortona

    Battle of Ortona
    The Canadians were trying to enter Germany through Italy but had to fight their way through. The Battle of Ortona was a close quarters battle. After 8 days of fighting the depleted German troops withdrew from the town resulting in a good victory for Canada and the allies making it a key event. The Battle of Ortona ended December 28, 1943.

    D-day was the allied invasion of Normandy. The allied soldiers were able to successfully get past the beach and into the mainland. This is referred to as the beginning of the end of the war in Europe. The allies were able to continue to push inland, and because of this were able to liberate France making it a vital event in WW2.

    Victory in Europe day is when the allies formally accepted Nazi Germany"s unconditional surrender of its armed forces making it an important event since this is when Germany is officially defeated.

    This event is important because it is when the US dropped the world's first deployed atomic bomb. They dropped the bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The US did this to ensure Japan's unconditional surrender. The bombing of Hiroshima is referred to as the main reason that Japan surrendered.
  • V-J day

    V-J day
    This day is known as victory in Japan day. This is when Japan surrenders unconditionally to the allied forces. It also marks the end of WW2 making it a key event.
