Hitler becomes Chancellor of Germany
In the July 1932 elections, the Nazis earned 40% of votes making it strongest party in Germany. Paul Von Hindenburg was reluctant to make Hitler Chancellor due to thinking Hitler was not fit for it.Franz Von Papen decided it was better for Hitler to be in the government than agitating it from outside. This started the Nazi era and dominance.

Germany invades Poland- WWII begins
After making the German-Soviet pact, Germany could invade Poland without Soviet intervention. Britain and France were not prepared to fight Germany. Germany then invaded Poland, and the polish army was defeated within weeks. This started WWII. France and Britain declared war on Germany.

Winston Churchill becomes leader of British Government
Neville Chamberlain was the prime minister of Britain before Churchill. He did many bad things like giving Czechoslovakia to German conquest. Churchill was appointed prime minister in his place. He led Britain through the war and never surrendered, proving to be a big part of why Nazis did not conquer Europe.

Battle of Britain
After the Battle of France, Britain was alone following the french surrender. Hitler turned his attention to Britain. Churchill said, "the battle of France is over, the battle of Britain is about to begin." This was a battle of airplanes, and although Germany had more planes, Britain were doing very well, and Hitler postponed invasion.

Axis powers break Non-Aggression Pact.
Before the war broke out, the Soviet Union and Germany made a pact to not fight for the next 10 years. This pact fell apart when Germany invaded Soviet Union in 1941, under the code name operation barbarossa. This invasion was a massive failure for Germany, and this was one of the main cause for Germany's downfall and loss.

Attack on Pearl Harbor
The pearl Harbor attack was a surprise aerial attack on the United States naval base on Oahu Island by Japan. Japan dropped bombs on the harbor causing over 1500 deaths. This severely crippled united states naval and air strength in the pacific. The caused the U.S to enter WWII.

Battle of Coral Sea
This was a battle fought between U.S and Australia vs. Japan and was aerial and naval. Japan wanted to control the Coral sea by Port Moresby but the allied forces intercepted these plans. This battle ruined Japan's plan to invade Port Moresby and it was a strategic victory for the allies.

Battle of Stalingrad
This was a battle fought when hitter invaded Russia. This battle was a major turning point in the war as it bled the German army dry, and Germany was in full retreat after this battle. Italy enters war

Battle of Iwo Jima
The American amphibious invasion of Iwo Jima during World War II stemmed from the need for a base near the Japanese coast. Iwo Jima was an Islan off the coast of Japan. About 23,000 Japanese soldiers were defending the Island, but the marine forces wiped out the defence after a month of fighting. This battle was a big American and helped America close in on Japan.

Atomic bomb #1
The first atomic bomb was the smaller one and was dropped on Japan by the U.S.A. It was dropped on the city of Hiroshima. It resulted in about 65,000 deaths.

After the 2 atomic bombs, the emperor of Japan was forced into an unconditional surrender. This was the surrender that ended the war, even though the surrender of Germany ultimately decided it.
