WW2
-
The Holocaust.
The Holocaust was from 1939 to 1945. It ran right through the whole of WW2 and would have to be one of the worst events that the world has ever faced. Innocent women, children and men were punished for living in certain places, having certain blood in their families and for just living. You would think that the world would have learnt from a dreadful event such as this, but no. You still see occurrences similiar to this happening in countries around the world. -
USA appeasement.
The USA weren't involved in the war and they didn't want to be for a long time, so this picture shows how they had their own space and didn't share the "diseases" that were spreading. These were "Stalin-itch", "Hitler-itis", "Blizt-pox", Nazi-fever", "Facist-fever" and "Italian-mumps" and they were an epidemic throughout Europe. -
Dunkirk.
On the 10th of May 1940, Neville Chamberlain handed leadership of the country over to Winston Churchill, who knew that Hitler's next want would be Belgium. He tried to make sure that Hitler couldn't get his hands on Belgium, but they surrendered in late May and the Nazis moved in. 340,000 troops were pushed into the only space that they had left to move into, the shores of Dunkirk, Northern France.
This event is known as the "Great Dunkirk Evacuation." -
Battle of Britain.
When Hitler had Belgium, his next move was to be Britain. He decided to call this "Operation Sea Lion" and to move in on the invasion in early July. This would lead to the invasion of England if all went to plan. On the 10th of July, Hitler moved his airforce Luftwaffe in and they attacked brutally, but it wasn't enough. Churchill knew that the fate of England would be determined from this battle, so they made sure that they defeated Hitler. OSL was postponed after this major defeat. -
Stalingrad.
This was Hitler's biggest mistake.
Four million German troups were in Russsia, making their way into Moscow, Leningrad and Stalingrad. This is when the winter hit, and it hit hard. Hitler was left to make the decision of wether to keep moving in the cold or turn back. He decided to keep going, his troops were 1800 miles from home, and they were shot like sitting ducks as they couldn't cope with the cold. Moving into Russia was Hitler's biggest mistake, and one mistake is all it takes to mess up -
Axis attacks on the USSR
This was called Operation Barbarossa and started on the 22nd of June 1941. Hitler was putting his invasion of Russia and the Soviet Union into the final stages when his troops were caught mid way in the blistering winter weather in a summer uniform. They begged to turn back as they would freeze to death, but Hitler denied them and ordered to keep going. The Soviet Union saw this as the right time to strike Hitler and his troops. More than half of them died and Hitler was left defeated. -
Pearl Harbour
On the 7th of December 1941, Japan dropped a bomb on Pearl Harbour, Oahu. Japan felt that the US Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbour was their only threat. -
El Alamein
This was the second battle of El Alamein and commenced on the 23rd of October and ended on the 11th of November 1942.
This marked a turning point during World War 2 as the allies were victorious. -

D-Day
The event commenced on the 6th of June 1944 and was called Operation Neptune. The allies were victorious in this battle that was fought on the beaches of Normandy, France. -
Germany surrended.
Germany surrendered after Hitler was pronounced dead. This ended the war for most countries in Europe, but Japan kept fighting. They didn't give up so easily. It was a few months before they surrendered, ending the war for good. -
Hiroshima bombed.
Hiroshima was bombed by the USA.
Harry S. Truman made the decision to drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima to end WW2. -
Nagasaki bombed.
The second atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, Japan, by the USA to end World War 2.
This was a form of revenge as Japan previously bombed the USA at Pearl Harbour. -
