Okinawa was considered one of the bloodiest. It was a final push for the Americans to keep charging towards the Japanese after obliterating them in the Battle of Iwo Jima. -

It was one of the bloodiest battles in WWII, all but 200 of the 21,000 Japanese forces died and 7,000 American Marines died. -

This was the Victory Day of Europe for not being in the clutches Germany on Western Europe -
Bombing of Hiroshima & Nagasaki
America dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima wiped out 90% of the city. They also bombed Nagasaki which made Japan surrender to the Allies and end the World War II. -
V-J Day
This was the Victory over Japan Day because Japan unconditionally surrendered and it effectively ended the War.
