    On September 1st German drooped bombs on Poland, and it was the begging of WW2. The German invasion of Poland was a primer on how Hitler intended to wage war. This was the start to all the other battles between Soviet Union and Germany. To Hitler, the conquest of Poland was to bring Lebensraum, or “living space,” for the German people.

    The Battle of Crete was fought on the Greek island of Crete. It started when Germany began an airborne invasion of Crete. Later the Germans had suffered heavy casualties, and after 6 month Greek and other Allied forces won. This battle was important because citizens of Crete fought with army of Greek against the Nazi to protect their lands, and it shows the people’s respect to their own country.

    Operation Barbarossa started on June 22 1941, mainly Moscow. The purpose of this battle for Germany was to conquer the Western Soviet Union. Barbarossa was a huge turning point in WW2: Germany lost many soldiers and resources. Germany captured 5 million Russian. At the end of 194, Soviet Union pushed Germany back, and Germany lost the battle.
  • Pearl Harbor

    This attack happened on a Hawaiian military base. It was a show of force to the U.S. from Japan. On December 7th 1941, Japan attacked the military base in Hawaii. This battle was the trigger of U.S. joining the WW2, and people realized the lack of awareness and readiness of U.S. military from this battle. Technically, there was no winning or losing in this battle; however, the Japanese completely destroyed the U.S. battle ships aircrafts.

    This engagement was between German and Soviet forces on the Eastern front near Kursk. Soviet won this battle at the end, and this battle’s significance is that 6000 tanks were used. It was the biggest tank battle in history.

    This battle was fought in Stalingrad (now Volgograd) in 1943 February 2nd. This battle was between USSR ( Soviet Union) and countries lead by Germany. Since Germany lost in this battle, after the battle they did not advance any farther into eastern Europe or Russia anymore. Since it was the longest battle during WW2, it show the struggle of war, and it was the first failure Hitler admitted.
