It was a battle between The Germans and Russians in Stalingrad where the Russians won. The reason this happened is because Germany was trying to push all the way up through Russia to control it. This effected WW2 by Stopping the Germans in their tracks to Russia and it hurt the German army really bad. -
Battle of the Midway
This was a very large battle between Japan and the U.S in the Pacific Ocean. This happened because the U.S. was trying to push back the Japanese from reaching the U.S. This effected WW2 by The U.S. winning and switching the momentum in the pacific to the Americans. -
Operation Gomorrah
The British and U.S. air forces fire bombed the city of Hamburg. They did this because Hamburg was a large port. This effected WW2 because it killed thousands of civilians and it did not allow the Germans to use the port. -
Allied invasion of Italy
It was a plan to attack through Italy. They did this because they wanted to open up the Mediterranean Sea for transport for the allies. This effected WW2 by helping the Allies eventually get transport through the Mediterranean Sea -
D-Day
These were called the Normandy Landings as well. The allies filled with Americans, British, Canadians, etc Stormed the beaches of Normandy and attack British post there. They did this because they needed a entry way into France. This effected WW2 by letting the Allies get into France, but losing a lot of men along the way. -
Battle of the Bulge
This battle consisted of Allied troops verse German troops where the Germans tried to make a huge offensive push which made a bulge in the american line, and that is where the name of the battle gets it's name. They attacked here because they had to make a push soon or they would be overrun into Germany. This effectd WW2 by the Germans losing this battle and practicly the war. -
Operation Thunderclap
This was a plan to do a massive attack on Berlin, but it was cancelled. It was cancelled because they feared the plan would not work and that they would have mass casualties. This effected the war because it made them have the idea to bomb Berlin instead and it pushed them back -
Battle of Iwo Jima
This was a battle between Japan and the U.S. on the island of Iwo Jima near Japan where the U.S. were victorious. The U.S. attacked this island because they needed to get closer to Japan. This effected WW2 by letting the U.S. get closer to Japan and eventually drop the atomic bombs. -
Battle of Okinawa
These were battles by the Allies and the Japanese along the Ryukyu Islands. The Allies pushed these islands because it was getting them closer and closer to Japan. This effected WW2 because with out these islands it would have been a lot harder to get to Japan. -
Dropping of the atomic bombs
The U.S. Dropped two atomic bombs in Japan on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They did this to try to end the war. This was important to the war because it ended the war. -
VE day
This is known as victory in europe day. This is celebrated because this is the day that the war ended in europe. This effected WW2 because this day meant that the fighting in Europe was over. -

Japan was surendering and ending the war. They did this because they didn't want another atomic bomb dropped on one of their cities. This ended World War 2 -

This is known as victory in Japan day. The reason this is called this is because this is the day the U.S. won the war in Japan. This effected WW2 because this ended the whole WW2, Japan were the last of the Axis powers to surrender.
