Successes and failures of the Axis powers
The Axis powers was the alignment of nations that fought in the Second World War against the Allied forces.
In 1940 they invaded most of western europe; they tried to invade Britain in what was known as the Battle of Britian.
The Germans were defeated by the British, which served the Allies to use Britain as a base to invade Europe in 1944. -

In June 1941, Hitler attacked the USSR; in response, the USSR joined the allied forces in he batle against the axis powers.

The battle of Midway was a naval confrontation that took place in 1942 in the Pacific Ocean between the forces of the United States and Japan. it ended with a decisive victory of the United States and disabling of the Imperial Japanese Navy. -

It was a confronttion between the red army of the Soviet Union and the arched force of the Nazi Germany. The strengthening of the Soviet soldiers was greater than expected and they won the Battle. -
Italy surrenders
There was a signed agreement during ww2, between Italy and the Allied armed forces, which had been occupying the southern tip of the country, which led to the Italian capitulation. -
Germany surrenders
The British and American forces defeated the German resistance and began advancing from the west; while, the Russians pushed them from the west kicking them out from countries of Poland, Romania and Bulgaria.
Both Allied armies occupied Germany and met at the River Elbe on 26 April 1945. Hitler committed suicide on 30 April; and, on 8 May, Germany surrendered. -
Atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
The Americans had reconquered most of the territories ocupied by the Japanese and in order to force them to surrender, the US President decided tu use a new wepon: the atomic bomb.
After this nuclear horror, Japan surrendered on 2 September 1945. -
