It is estimated that around 22,000 allied troops were killed in the Battle of Dunkirk and around 2,000 civilians lost their lives. Battle of Midway
This battle was fought between the United States and the Japanese naval forces. Approximately 3,000 Japanese sailors and airmen were killed. A total of 317 United States sailors, airmen, and marines were killed. Admirals Chester W. Nimitz, Frank J. Fletcher, and Raymond A. Spruance defeated an attacking fleet of the Imperial Japanese Navy. This ended with another American success. -
Battle of Stalingrad
The battle of Stalingrad was a major battle on the Eastern Front of World War II where Nazi Germany and its allies unsuccessfully fought the Soviet Union. There was about 800,000 deaths and casualties including the missing and captured. The Battle of Stalingrad was won by the Soviet Union against the German offensive that attempted to take the city of Stalingrad. -
Battle of Kursk
The eastern front battle was between the forces of Germany and the Soviet Union near Kursk in southwestern Russia. The war ended with about 800,000 Soviet casualties and 200,000 German casualties. The battle ended up resulting in a Soviet victory. -
Battle of Berlin
The battle was between two Soviet front troops, all attacking Berlin from the East and South. The battle of Berlin's casualties were extremely high compared to others. The soviet military left with over 80,000 dead or missing soldiers. In addition to that they had almost 280,000 either wounded or sick. But Germany had not even hit the 100,000 mark yet of wounded or dead. The main military leaders were Gotthard Heinrici and Helmuth Reymann. This ended with the soviet forces winning the battle. -
Battle of Normandy
This battle involved Hitler's Atlantic Wall,soldiers of the United States,United Kingdom,Canada,and other Allied nations. In the ensuing Battle of Normandy, 73,000 Allied forces were killed and 153,000 wounded.General Dwight D Eisenhower was the main military leader which so happened to be the leader of the United States. This ended with the allied forces victory. -
Battle of the Bulge
This all started with the Germans launched a massive attack on Allied forces in the area around the Ardennes forest in Belgium and Luxembourg during the Second World War. Soldiers fought in brutal winter conditions, and the U.S. Army lost approximately 19,000 men (and suffered some 75,000 total casualties) in what became the United States' deadliest single World War II battle. The allies won the battle of the Bulge, while the Germans suffered over 100,000 deaths. -
Iwo Jima
This battle was between the United States and the entire empire of Japan. In just 36 days, approximately 22,000 Japanese soldiers and sailors were killed. The Americans secured victory on Iwo Jima on March 26, 1945, after both sides had paid a devastating toll in lives. Which ended in an American Victory.
