    On September 1st, 1939, Germany invaded Poland to regain lost territory using the blitzkrieg strategy, which inevitably led to the beginning of WW2. The Polish soldiers were under equipped compared to the German soldiers, and the invasion led Great Britain to drop bombs over Germany.

    Took place on September 3rd, 1939 all the way to May 8th, 1945, and the Battle of The Atlantic is the longest battle fought during WW2. It started with the Allies using a naval blockade against Germany, and it led to conflict between the Axis and the Allies wanting to have control over the Atlantic Ocean.

    On November 9th,1939, the Nazi soldiers burnt down synagogues, Jewish homes, Jewish schools, and Jewish owned buisnesses. During that nigh 30,000 Jewish men were sent to concentration camps and 100 Jewish people were killed.

    On May 26th, 1940, Germany invaded the French town of Dunkirk. When the German forces were too much for the Allied forces, they were able to evacuate through Operation Dynamo. Since the Allied troops surrendered Germany ultimately won the battle.

    On October 2nd, 1941, the Axis powers started a campaign to take control of Russias capital city of Moscow. The Soviets used the Scorched Earth strategy leaving nothing behind. The Axis soldiers were unprepared and eventually retreated.

    On December 7th, 1941, the Japanese became allies with the Axis powers and attacked the Hawaiian naval base. The Japanese used the kamikaze strategy to attack America's Pacific fleet. This event ultimately led the U.S. to enter WW2.

    On August 23rd, 1942, the red army was defending the city of Stalingrad against German attack. After one of the deadliest of WW2 due to brutal weather and starvation, they brought an end to the Axis powers Eastern Europe advances.

    On June 6th, 1944, the beaches of Normandy were stormed by American, British, and Canadian forces to try and break German defenses.4,000 Allied troops lost their lives storming the beaches with 1,000 troops missing. This battle was later given the name "D-Day".

    On September 2nd, 1945 WW2 came to an end after surrender documents were signed on the USS Missouri. WW2 claimed over 400,000 American lives and more than 85 million people lost their lives world-wide.
