Coded messages alerted the United States to the Japanese attack on New Guinea. We sent two carriers to prevent this one was sunk the other was badly damaged but they managed to prevent japans attack. -

The battle of tarawa is significant because they need to capture the Japan base to put their own bases there so at Tarawa we ended up capturing it but before that 1,000 marines died. -
Mariana islands
In 1944 Americans attacked the Mariana islands as a base for the new b-29 bomber. We took the base and months later b-29 bombers began bombing japan. -
Manila island
MacArthur didn’t capture Manila until August 1945 and more than 80,000 Japanese were killed.
