Japanese wants to destroy the u.s. pacific fleet. They wanted control of the Pacific. Though no one won or lost they only both severed damages from the battles. But the u.s. revived much faster then Japan.

The invasion of Italy was when the us and britian invaded Italy and when the Italians lost faith in their leader they sided with britian and the us and declared war on Germany.
I think it is important because it shows when Italy goes with majority, and Germany is left to battle on its own. -
