    Hitler invades polland

    The Soviets (Russia) had signed a Hitler signed a
    Non-aggression pact which included the invasion and occupation of eastern Poland. So when Germany attacked Poland they asked for help from they retreated to the Russian border expecting them to help but ended up getting attacked from both sides. This event was significant as it was what inevitably started WW2.

    Battle of Britain

    Britains Royal Airforce defended the British Isles against Nazi Germany's airforce. It was one of Britains first victories in WW2 and prevented Germany from invading Britain.

    Battle of Borneo

    The battle of Borneo was a successful campaign created by the Japanese military in order to take control of Borneo island. Borneo was significant during WW2 as it had a lot of raw materials and sat across a lot of the main sea routes between North Asia, Malaya and the NEI (nuclear energy institute).

    Battle of Stalingrad

    The battle of Stalingrad happened in Stalingrad Russia and refers to the battle that happened between Russian forces and Nazi Germany. It is remembered as one of the largest, longest and bloodiest battles in modern warfare where more than 2 million people were killed or injured and ultimately turned WW2 in favour of the allied forces.
  • Death of Franklin Roosevelt

    Franklin Roosevelt the current president at the time of ww2 died from a cerebral hemorrhage just three months before his fourth term. This meant that his vice president Harry Truman was forced to take over and make all the big decisions throughout the rest of WW2 which was bad for America.
  • Hitler's death

    Hitler killed himself and his wife inside his Fuhrerbunker. He did this by giving them both cyanide pills and shooting himself in the head with his gun. The day before he gave orders for their bodies to be burned to prevent people from finding and mutilating his body. Hitler's death was the main cause for Germany's surrender

    General Alfred Jodl, representing the German High Command, signed the unconditional surrender of both east and west forces in Reims, France, which would take effect the following day. This was significant as it is what ended WW2.

    Atomic Bomb in Japan

    The US dropped an untested uranium-235 gun-assembly bomb over Hiroshima that killed up to 140,000 people. Just three days late launched a second bomb that was meant to hit Kokura but because of poor visibility ended up being sent to Nagasaki instead which killed at least another 40,000 people. These two bombs were the main cause of Japan's surrender.

    Japan's emperor Hirohito announced japans surrender after the two devastating nuclear bomb drops on August 15th but it wasn't formally signed until September 2nd that same year. This event was significant as it was what ended up bringing an end to WW2.
  • Changri prison Liberation

    During the Japanese Occupation of Singapore from 1942 to 1945, Changi Prison was converted into an internment camp for civilians and prisoners of war that held over 50,000 allied soldiers, predominantly British and Australian who were liberated by the British military. This was important to the war as it meant that the allied soldiers got bac 50,000 soldiers that they had lost.
