    Benito Mussolini
    Born in 1883. He was an Italian dictator. Became Prime Minister in 1922. Allied with Hitler during World War 2. He promoted Fascism and created the fascist air forces, created the Facist Party. He was killed by his own people after Germany had surrendered.
  • Adolf Hitler

    Adolf Hitler
    1889-1945. One of the most powerful dicators, he was dictator in Germany during WW2 taking control of the government in 1933. One of the worst things he is known for is putting Jews in concentration camps for his own reasons like believing they were a threat. Soon after his control of the government he invaded Poland starting World War 2. Having his own problems and not wanting to be caught he killed himself.

    Franklin D. Roosevelt
    President during the Great Depression (1933-1945). Because of the Great Depression, Roosevelt said he would try to do certain things in the "hundred days", he worked to get the unemployed employed and those who needed housing houses. He made the New Deal program and Social Security.

    German soldiers led by Adolf Hitler during World War Two. The Nazi party was outlawed after Germany was defeated in World War Two. They were brutal, especially to Jews during the Holocaust.

    The neutrality act was passed to keep the United States out of war. Couldn't ship goods or loans to warring naitons, lend and lease programs were made. It came to an end when the US declared war on Japan, Germany declared war on the US. Although the US saw and didn't like what Japan was doing to Europe, the act didn't let them interfere.

    Anywhere between 10 and 30 million civilians were killed, more thank 7,000 a day for six weeks. The soldiers did horrible things to the people, raping women, throwing children, shooting anyone they wanted to.

    1874-1965. Fighting against Hitler wanting to take over Europe. Prime Minister of Great Britain. Helped lead a Allied strategy with Roosevelt and Stalin. He alerted the West of expansionist threat of Soviet Communist.

    Governmental system usually used by dictators having complete power. Hitler was one of the people who used it, he used force to get what he wants.

    Hitler used this in things such as the film ”Consecration of the Flags", propaganda was used to turn Germans against the Jews. It was also used in a lot of postors during wartime by government for things such as victory gardens.

    It would provide US Military aid to foreign nations durring World War Two. Countries like Britain, Soviet Union, Brazil and China would get weapons from us. Some didn't like it so it's thought to bring the US closer into entering the war but we were able to help Britain even with the Neutrility act.

    A lot of things were rationed because of the shortage of food during the war. Some things that were rationed were meat, butter, coffee, tires, and gas. The children in schools even helped ration as a competition b/w other schools.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Japan was trying to negotiate with the US and while doing so they attacked a naval base, Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. 2,500 Americans were found dead and many more were injured, many of the ships that were there were destroyed including battleship, some planes but we were lucky that some of the planes had gone out on a practice run and avoided being destroyed. This was a major reason for the US entering the war.

    President Roosevelt ordered the Executive Order 9066 which forced Japanese- Americans into camps in certain areas. A lot of people because of the attack of Pearl Harbor were worried that the Japanese-Americans might turn against the United States for their own country of be spies.

    A lot of food was rationed during World War Two and there wasn't enough transportation to get fruits and vegetables to markets so the government tried to encourage people to grow their own in their yards for themselves. More than 20 million started their own gardens.

    Because most of the men were drafted into the military, the women had to replace them in their jobs. 6.5 million entered the word force for the first time. Some entered the military, became nurses, worked in factories.They still had discrimination but it let the women gain pride and be able to prove what they can do.

    He was a 19 year old Lieutenant. He fired a machine gun on a burning tank against the Germans and won the Medal of Honor for doing so. He became kind of famous for it and was on the cover of magazines and in films.

    There were fire bombing raids on this day in Germany. It killed about 350,000 people and was most destructive bombing of the war. About 3,400 tons of explosives were dropped by 800 American and British aircraft.

    He was the 33rd president from 1945 to 1953, born 1884 died 1972. 1948, Truman signs order to officially desegregate military. He made the big decision to drop an atomic bomb on Japan causing Japan to surrender.
