  • Japanese invasion of Monchuria

    On September 18th, 1931 Monchuria was invaded by the Kwantung Army of Japan. This led to the U.S. boycott of raw materials to Japan.
  • Hitler made Chancellor of Germany

    Hitler being made Chancellor of Germany was an effort to keep Hitler and the Nazi party "in check". Chancellor is the head of the government of Germany. This event gives Hitler more power.
  • The Anschluss

    The Anschluss was a union between Germany and Austria to create a greater Germany. It was one of the first steps in Hitler's creation of a greater Germany to include all the Germans and land they lost after WW1.
  • Kristallnacht

    Also known as the night of broken glass. During Kristallnacht at least 91 Jews were killed during the attacks and 30,000 were arrested and put in concentration camps. Homes, hospitals, and schools were ransacked. It was the first real attempt to attack Jewish business. Some people say it was the begining of the holocaust.

    An appeasment was made with Germany. Hitler broke this and invaded Poland anyway. The polish army was defeated in weeks. This invasion made people realize Hitler wouldnt stop and started the beginning of ww2.

    the battle between the allies and germany was the defense and evacuation of British and allied forces. It resulted in the capture of France by Germany after British forces evacuated. Dunkirk helped get about a half a million allied soldiers to safety and they could then help in the war.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    A surprise attack by the Japanese on the U.S. naval base in hawaii. It was meant to destroy the U.S. Pacific fleet so Japan could move on with their expansion without the U.S. getting in the way. This led to the U.S. entering the war.

    This was the forced march of American and Fillipino prisoners of the war by the Japanese during ww2. the 63 mile march began with 72,000 prisoners. it was the largest surrender in American History. It demonstrated how cruel Japan could be to the people.

    it destroyed Japans naval strength when the Americans destroyed its aircraft carriers. It was important because it stopped Japanese advancements in the war.
  • D Day

    The allied invasion of Normandy resulted in the Allied liberation of Western europe from nazi germany's control. it marked the "beginning of the end" of the war.

    This was the ww2 meeting of the heads of government in the U.S., United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union for the purpose of discussing Europe's post-war recognition. They made many advancments important decisions.

    victory in europe day. This marked the date when the ww2 Allies accepted the surrender of Nazi Army.
  • The bombing of Hiroshima

    The atomic bombings of the U.s on japan. This was the final stages of the war. This was also the first time atomic bombs were ever used in warfare.
  • VJ Day

    Victory over Japan day. It was announced that Japan had surrendered to the Allies, effectively ending ww2.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    a major German campaign toward the end of the war. This surprise attack caught the Allied forces completely off guard and become he costliest battle in terms of casualties. It severely depleated Germanys war-making resources.
