Auschwitz liberation
Is when Soviet forces entered the Auschwitz complex. They evacuated the camp and made all of them march west. They found 7,000 prisioners nearly dead or very ill. -
Raising the flag on Mount Suribachi
This is when some Marines bravely put the american flag on Mount Suribachi then put the second one on. They did this while the battle was still going on. About 550 marines died and 1,800 were wounded. -
Bombing of Hiroshima
Killed 80,000 people instantly. People would later die from radiation from the bomb. The atom bomb wiped out 90 percent of the city.
