    Toussaint L'Ouverture was a freed slave and revolutionist, who lead the Haitian Revolution. The Haitian revolution was an anti slavery movement, to gain independence against French Colonial rule.
  • Congress of Vienna

    The congress of Vienna was an assembly in 1814-15 that reordered and reorganized Europe, after the Napoleonic Wars. They were made to promote balance and prevent future wars
  • The end of the Franco-Prussian war.

    The end of the Franco-Prussian war.
    After Louis Napoleons defeat, of the Second Empire, the Treaty of Frankfurt am Main was signed, ending the war. The treaty, was signed in the Palace of Versailles hall of mirrors. This caused a rivalry, which later burst, and started WW1.
  • Berlin Conference

    Berlin Conference
    1884-1885. The conference was proposed by Portugal, and had all major European nations connect through the Congo Estuary. it guaranteed freedom of trade and shipping for all countries inside the basin, and restricted slaves and slave trading.

    Boxer Rebellion.
    This was a very blood revolution. It was an anti-foreigner, anti-imperialist and an anti-christian movement. The Rebellion was sparked by missionaries coming in, and ended in a bloodbath of innocent people.

    Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand
    Archduke Franz Ferdinand was an heir to the throne. However, Most Serbian people were very nationalistic. The Black hand, a secret military society, hatched a plan to assassinate Franz Ferdinand. Gavrillo Princip was the man to finish his plot. This assassination led to the start of WW1
  • Sinking of the Lusitania

    Sinking of the Lusitania
    During WW1 Germany restricted submarine warfare on civilian boats. However the allies were still getting ammo and supplies.
    Germany figured that the allies were also transporting supplies on civilian boats, therefore when they saw the Lusitania, they sunk it. This angered the U.S. and they spent a year training, before entering the war.
  • Treaty of Versailles

    This was the treaty that ended WW1. It made them surrender all German colonies as the league of nations mandates. It also commanded to give Lorraine to France.
  • The great depression.

    the great depression started as a result of overselling. As the selling and buying continued, people could not keep track of what was bought or not, which lead to a stock market crash. This resulted in Productivity declining and unemployment rising.
  • Hitlers reign begins

    Hitler was nationalistic, and thrived on power. He invaded Poland on September 1 1939. France and Britain then declared war, later the US came to their aid.
