    On June 6th, 1914, heir to the Austria-Hungry empire, Archduke Franz Ferdinand was shot and killled by Gavrilo Princip.

    In early January of 1917, Germany sent a telegram to the goverment of Mexico in an attempt to make them join their side of the war incase the U.S were to join. In return they offered them the land that the U.S had taken from them. Mexico however did not agree, and stayed out of the war.
