Austria Hungary delares war on Serbia
A newspaper that states War is Decleared on Serbia after the assassination of the Austria Hungary Archduke. This is what leades the major powers to join the war. -
Assassinaion of Austrain Archduke Ferdinand
An assassin from the Serbian terrorist group known as the Black Hand shot 2 bullets that ended up killing the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife. Soilders arrest the group within minutes after they try to commit suicide but fail. The shots fired on that day is what started the great war. -
Britian Declears War
Britian declares war on Germany, after Germany invades Belgium; Canada is automatically at war along side Britian. Canada is going to have to suit up and get their men ready. -
Battle of Ypres
During the Battle of Ypres the Germans first use poison gas. Canadians survive the gas attack and stop the Germans advance. -
Lusitania is Attacked
The British ocean liner RMS Lusitania is sunk by German U-boat, which contained some american passengers. This is what lead the U.S to declear war on Germany and join the war months later. -
Training Camp
30 000 Canadian troops arrive at Valcartier camp in Quebec to train for the up and coming war. The troops had to gear up and prepare real hard, because they would not expect that the war was going to be long fought and tough. -
Battle of Verdun
The Battle of Verdun begins. The Battle of Verdun was the longest battle of World War I and was one of the bloodiest. -
Tanks are Introduced
The battle of the Somme begins and Tanks are first introuduced. At this point all the tanks are doing is just drawing fire and persumed usless. -
Germany asks for help
Germany sends the secret Zimmerman Telegram to Mexico in an effort to entice Mexico to join the war. The British intercept and decipher the coded message an is stoped. -
U.S Joins the War
After Germany's careless actions on the cruise ship the United States decide to take action and declear war on Germany officially. -
Canadians Take Vimy Ridge
Canadians are ordered to take Vimy Ridge with the commanding officer Sir Arthur Currie. They prepare battle stratiges which help them a lot and are used in future battles. -
Wartime Eections At
The Wartime elections act was passed to give the right for women in general of soilders to vote and Canadians born in the enemy countries not being able to vote. Now women were looked as equals in the country. -
The Red Baron is shot down
German flying ace, Baron Manfred von Richthofen (more commonly known as the Red Baron), is shot down. He as considered highly skilled in the sky with about 80 victories. People still fight over who shot him down till this day. -
Rememberance Day
Germany signs the armistice at Compiegne, France. Fighting ends on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. This marks the day of remembering the lives of the soilders who fought for our country. -
The War is Over
The Treaty of Versailles officially ends WWI, as well as Canada signs the Treaty of Versaiiles as a separate nation from Britian. This holds the begining for Canada to move on and to own the 20th Century.
