    They drafted 400,000 African Americans to go fight in WW1. But only 42,000 served overseas as combat troops. The white men sent them into battles that they didn't want to fight in because they didn't think they would win. But out of those battles came great victories.

    The battle of "Argonne Forest" was the biggest battle in American history. It involved over 600,000 troops, 40,000 tons of supplies, and 4,000 artillery pieces. The battle was ordered by French Marshal Ferdinand Foch. It started on september 26th, 1918.
