The German though that America wasn’t prepared for the war so they sent a telegram to Mexico asking them to make a border war with the country and would give them land that they had but gave away to America (TX, NM, AZ.) They put it in the newspaper to make sure everyone knew Germany and America were enemies. -
US Joins Allied Powers
The Us joined the allied powers after Germany sunk their ships even though Germany said to stay off of the war zone. The USA was shipping goods to the UK. -
Selective Service Act
The Selective Service Act of 1917 was made by the federal government to raise an army for service in World War I. All men between the ages of 21 and 31 had to sign up for the military. -
Germany and Russia Peace
The Germans sign a peace treaty with Russia. The treaty gave Germany huge parts of land that had been the Ukraine and Poland, and allows Germany to shift soldiers to the Western Front, causing problems for the French, British, and Americans. -

The End of the War
WWI began in 1914 and lasted until 1918. During the war, Germany, Hungary, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire (the Central Powers) fought Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, and the United States (the Allied Powers). Germany had surrendered on November 11, 1918, and all nations had to stop fighting while the terms of peace were being made. On June 28, 1919, Germany and the Allied Nations (including Britain, France, Italy and Russia) signed the Treaty of Versailles, ending the war.
