    Battle of Marne
    Germany's plan for the war was to gain France and western Europe before Russia came and build a strong army and attack Germany. The battle of Marne was the very first battle fo WWI. This battle started when Germany was coming to Paris and of course try to conquer it. This time though Britian and France decided that they were going to stop Germany from gaining France. After a few days of fighting German retreated to Aisne River in Northern France.

    The lusitania was supported by Admirality and was fitted to be a war ship secretly. The passengers that were going to enter the ship though didnt know that the cargo was filled with millitary equipment. On May 7, 1915 at 2:10 a torpeddo was fired by the Germans. After 18 minutes of the shoot the ship was in the water. Most passengers didnt get time to get to a life boat. About 1,924 passengers died that night.

    The battle of Verdun had the most causlties out of the whole war. the German cheif Von Falkenhayn had a plan to launch a massive German attack on a piece of land that was very sentamental to France - Verdun. Verdun had sixty forts and Falkenhayn thought that if the Germans attack, the French won't let it go because the forts would cost them a national humiliation. The French would fight until all of the Germans were gone.

    The sinking of the Sussex happened when the French steamer that provided Ferry service on the English Channel. ONe day the ship was mistaken for a war ship and was torpedoed by Germans. At the end fifty people were killed and several were injured.

    Wilson decided that the US could no longer stay nuetral, so on April 2, 1917 he asked congress to declare war on Germany. So after futher consideration congress decided to declare war on Germany, if they wanted to keep the US a world power.

    Thsi battle produced the most casualties in British history. The whole battle started when the British who were very desperate to end the war came up with a plan to overcome the Germans and end the war. They come up with a massive defence that was supposed to overun the Germans. Their strategy was to wipe out german defences with a bombardment. The Germans were armed with machine guns and the British and French only had riffles and bayonets. At the end the allies gained 7 miles of land.
