Trench Warfare
This type of combat became popular in World War 1. Basically its when people dig trenches in order to provide cover from enemy fire. Late into the war they moved away from it because of the more advanced weapons used near the end of the war. -
Sinking of Lusitania
The Lusitania was a British ocean liner. It was sunk by a German submarine on May 7 1915. It was a large trade boat that was sailing from New York with American passengers. When it sunk it killed hundreds of Americans and the British crew. This lead the US to enter the war. -
Zimmerman Note
It was an encrypted note that was sent from Germany to Mexico. It asked for an alliance in case the US enters the war. -
Spanish Flu
It was an unusual influenza outbreak where it attacked and killed mostly healthy young adults. 50-100 thousand people died. -
Fourteen Points
It was set of principles of peace that were used in peace talks to end the war. It stated that the nations must form a union in order to prevent another war. -
Espionage and Sedition Act
The Espionage Act was created to steer people away from talking badly about the war effort. The Sedition Act was then made to extend the power of the Espionage Act. They went against the 1st amendment by taking away the free speech of the people. -
Treaty of Versailles
This was the most important peace treaty throughout World War One because it was ended the state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers. -
19th Amendment
Women gain the right to vote throughout the United States of America. During the war women took up the job that were left vacant by the men that went to war.
