By the early part of 1939 German dictator Hitler, had been determined to invade and occupy Poland. Finally on September 1st 1939 at 4:45 am Germany began the invasion. In response, Great Britain and France declared war on Germany on September 3, 1939. -

On April 10, 1940, Germany invades Norway and Denmark .Denmark surrenders but fighting continues in Norway, aided by British and French armies. The government in Norway soon flees to Britain. -

On January 18, 1945, the Nazis begin evacuating the Auschwitz death camp.Almost 60,000 prisoners are forced on a death march out of the camp. This does not necessarily mean that they are safe. They are actually evacuated because the Germans didn't want to reveal and expose what was actually being done with the Jews. The wanted to get rid of them as soon as possible. -
Hitler's Death
With Soviet troops in the city limits, Adolf Hitler commits suicide in his fortified bunker beneath Berlin on April 30. The new German surrenders unconditionally on May 8. -
