This is known as the first global war in modern history. Britain fought France across America, India and Europe. Both countries joined forces with other countries going head to head for seven years. However, in the end, Britain came out victorious. -

Catherine the Great Gets Her Lover a Polish Throne
In 1763 after the death of Augustus III, the succession to the Polish throne still needed to be decided by the Russian ruler. Empress Catherine II sent her troops into Poland to ensure the election of Stanislaw III. Stanislaw was one of her lovers. -
Indian Uprise
In response to suddenly being at the mercy of the British, Indian Chief, Pontiac, began a surprise Indian uprising. Each tribe attacked a different fort. It quickly is successful and as equally devastating. Indians soon gained hunting grounds, but just two years later the English gained control again and the royal proclamation was quickly forgotten. -
Captain Cook Leads his 1st Expedition into the Pacific
Captain James Cook led an expedition on the ship HMS 'Endeavour' to study the phenomenon of the transit of Venus from the island of Haiti. Cook traveled into the South Pacific Ocean around New Zealand and was able to chart Australia's east coast. His botanists/scientists brought several different specimens and a lot of scientific knowledge back with them when the expedition ended in 1771. -
Tensions High in North American Colonies
Three years prior to this date, taxes on imports to the American colonies had been lowered on everything except, of course, tea. Angered colonists disguised themselves as Native Americans dumped entire chests of tea off of the East India Company's vessel into the Boston harbor in protest. Due to this rash action, tensions between British government and American colonists skyrocketed. -
Frecnh Revolution Begins
On this day the Bastille prison in Paris was "stormed" marking the star of the French Revolution. Throughout this revolution the French monarchy was overthrown, King Louis XVI was publically executed and republic was restored to France. This stemmed politcal debates throughout Britain as well about whether or not things should change. -
British Abolish Slavery
In 1806, the British passed a bill to abolish the supply of slaved on British ships to colonies and other conquered lands. The next year they abolished the slave trade altogether. It was the ended of more than 200 years of the slave trade business. almost two decades later slavery was completely abolished and the slaves were set free and compensated for. -
Paraguay Independence
The city of Asuncion felt a certain resentment when Buenos Aires was named capital. It soon declared independence from Spain in 1810. Soon, the Spanish call in the reinforcements and it is all too much for Asuncion. But in 1811, the colonies threw out the governor and declared independence for Paraguay -

Her Father Gets a Job
Emily's father, Patrick Bronte. gets a job as a perpetual curate of Haworth Parsonage at Yorkshire. This meant Mr. Bronte had to move to work leaving his family behind. This left Mrs. Maria Branwell Bronte to take care of the household. -
Emily's Mother Dies
At the young age of 2-3, Emily's mother, Maria Branwell Bronte, died. This left the Bronte children orphaned because their father was working in Yorkshire and could not return. So, Maria's sister, Elizabeth Branwell, moved from Cornwall to Haworth to take care of them. -
Two Sisters Dead
Maria and Elizabeth Bronte, Emily's older sister both died to a combination of tuberculosis and typhoid fever at there school Clergy Daughters' School at Cowan Bridge. Parliament Grants Catholic Emancipation
Just a year before this, the Parliament repealed the act that prohibited Catholics from attending colleges/universities or holding government/public offices. To further the relief of Catholics the Parliament granted full emancipation rights to the British and Irish Catholics. This was all thanks to prime Minister Arthur Wellesley. -

Louis-Philippe sends one of his sons to gather the remains of the fallen emperor Napoleon back to Paris. Just a few years before this, Napoleon's son had died of tuberculosis. So, Louis-Philippe's, Napoleon I's brother, son, Louis gains control of the imperial rule and becomes Napoleon III. -
Charlotte "Accidentally" Finds Emily Poetry
Her older sister, Charlotte Bronte, stumbled upon Emily's poetry. She was quite impressed with the power behind her sister's words and confronted her for it. She admitted to have been writing her own poetry, Emily did not like having been found out, but still went on to publish her works. -

Emily began to work on her classic novel "Wuthering Heights". Emily finished this novel in June 1846 and went on to be published in 1847. This novel originally confused and offended readers because of its detail and then went on to be disapproved of because it was written by a woman. -

Emily Dies
Two months before Emily's death she caught a chill, it quickly progressed into consumption. However, Emily refused to see a doctor and forced herself to go on about her life as if nothing was wrong. On the day of her death, she woke up and got dressed and for the first time since she had fallen ill she suggested that maybe she should fetch a doctor. Shortly after that, she passed away.
