First Battle of the Marne
German’s wanted to not get into a war of the two fronts by eliminating the France. Before France went to their allies Russia. They had some success at first but after awhile they didn't have enough reinforcement to really defeat France. After this the trench warfare really kicked into full swing, after the first couple of month was really eye opening because of all the casualties and death that had occurred. -

Brusilov Offensive
The Russian Arm faced hard defeats but on June 4 to September 20, 1916, they had their most successful offensive battle. Russian commander Aleksei Brusilov led the Russians to victory by using offensive strategies, and most of his strategies were very successful. He used a short sharp artillery to bomb and surprise the opposing troops. -
Gallipoli
The campaign began on April 25 and ended January 9th 1916, this was the push to get a landing point for ally ships. The British had nowhere to go and were stuck and it quickly became a trench warfare just the Western front. The conditions in these trenches we also really bad and didn’t help them fight during the battle. One day a push happened by the Anzac Cove but was shut down and more trench warfare occurred. -
Jutland
On May 31 to June 1st 1916, the largest Naval battle of the first World War. the.The Germans were hoping to just weaken the British Naval fleet, there plan was to bring them far out into the sea and attack them like that. But this didn’t work because British code breakers warned them in advanced. This allowed the British to prepare and put both their forces in the sea. -
Battle of Verdun
On February 21 and December 18, 1916, this battle was the longest battle in the first World War, the battle took almost the whole year. The French went back and forth losing ground on their opponents, but the Germans had to take away some troops because the French and British started fighting in other areas, which allowed the French to retake ground again -
Battle Of Somme
British and French joined force to battle it out against the Germans on July 1 to the 18th of November, 1916. The fought on the Western Front, The British and French battled very hard and were victorious over the Germans. There were millions of wounded men for both sides, over the first day the British had 57,000 men get injured or killed and almost 20 thousands of them were deaths, making it British most deadliest day in military history -

Edwin Turn Bowden was visiting many forts like Fort Dix, and Miller Field on Staten Island, Fort Hamilton, and New York Port. He was about to take a 3 day trip to Virginia. Also he is trying to get off so he can go watch his son Graduate from Harvard, and then his son is going to enter into the draft. -
Third Ypres Campaign
The Battle of Third Ypres on July 31 to November 10th 1917 was part of the war on the Western Front. This was a key battle for the British, they planned to attack a rail junction a couple miles away, this would undermine the German location, they could also take over a German submarine base. There first attempt at this attack was a fail because of over-ambition plan and seasonal rain. Later the attack was called off and made the soldiers feel demoralized. -
German Spring Offensive
The German Spring Offensive on March 21 to July 18th 1918, this was a push by the Germans to tip the balance of the Western Front and make it more to the German side. The British and Allied powers were getting met with gas and artillery that the Germans had got from destroying the Russians in the battles before. The attack was kinda successful, they were tachically successful, but there strategy was unsuccessful. -
Battle of Megiddo
The Battle of Megiddo from 19-20th of September 1918, was the beginning 0f the final push from the British. They came at the Germans with everything including cavalry, infantry, artillery and armoured vehicles and even planes. This was a big event that later ended up winning the war.
